Well then I apparently am immune to or just enjoy the womps. 8)

They just really get in the way of the guitar. It's like an overzealous, bassy Pac-Man trying to eat the Edge's solo.

I think that's the funniest description I've ever seen of something in a U2 song. ;D
I agree! What happened to this thread? Now we are all talking about WOMPS and an overzealous Pacman.
The absurdity is proportional to the dislike of the Pac-Manny WOMPS.

It really annoys me in Dirty Day when Bono says the line 'you'll hit someone guilty', his voice gets louder and more distorted, which ruins what would otherwise be a fantastic line.

That's probably the most arty bit of Zooropa! I love that.

I'll donate "tada data, tada data, tada data, tata da da." from the single version of the Sweetest Thing.

I would have respected this single release if they actually re-released the original version as it was.

The sinlge version has an artificial 'feel good' element in the production that really destroys the entire 'joshua tree' feel the song had. Bah.

Oh, and i'm also upset that Cederwood Road is getting al the attention for stealing the 'you can't return to the place you've never left' line that is suppose to be in Deep In The Heart.

Great point!  I totally forgot about that.

Every breaking wave being released as a single, in the piano version. It could've had more success if studio version was promoted

The "Baby, Baby, Baby" in "Crazy Tonight" because it's stolen from "Ultra Violet".

Winter being left off NLOTH

Yes, indeed. It would have been one song better with this as the 12th track.

Can't buy into that, honestly believe the piano version had more chance of being heard above all the noise.....these acoustic piano led songs have done well traditionally and very much so of late, people are suckers for them

The full version is just more u2 by numbers in the publics eye, no different to magnificent for example.

As we know the landscape dictates u2 are gonna struggle badly to get a hitwhatever they do...ironically the slightly sappy and wet SFS is as likely as anything to get near to being a hit because people like that kind of stuff, pleasant sounding, poppy, and inoffensive.

I don't think it matters now anyway if they get a hit amd I wish they didn't care

Exactly.  I have to stop what I am doing, raise the volume about 3x, and then slowly dial it back as the first 1/3 of the song progresses.

I admit that that is highly annoying with Exit.... I like the slow climb of the music as the "story" unfolds.... But they didnt need to start from the bottom of the volume.

I like how quiet Exit is.  It's nice contrast.  The RH version is better.  But I still like the quiet of the studio version.
