Not to be over dramatic, but a guy walking around alone after a concert, like going to a bus stop from the venue, has different concerns than a woman. If you miss walking with the post show crowd, it can feel rather sketchy outside some venues.

Very good point.  In MSG, there is a cab stand and a subway line right there, but wander an avenue or two in either direction and you could run into some very sketchy characters.

Have seen them 4x out of 9 alone and Im a woman. :)  Never had a problem. Being the only U2 nut i know, Id rather go alone than miss out on seeing them live!!! Its got its advantages as others have pointed out...you have more freedom to do what you want ie. Stake out for the bands arrival at a venue. I wa  able to meet Bono and Edge outside Gillette , probably wouldn't have happened if i was with lukewarm fans friends etc.

As far as security goes, i always leave with the rest of the concert goers on theway out and i always know how im gettting back to my car . Boston's Garden also has the subway right by it so and every thing is pretty safe and crowded at 11pm in this city. I appreciate the info on MSG though. I have wondered how it was getting out of there at night.

I went to the Phoenix shows alone and had the best time. It was pretty liberating. I probably danced, sang and generally jumped and moved around much more than I would have had I had my boyfriend, sister, casual-fan friends, etc.  with me like other shows.   I'm female and I certainly do understand the safety concern leaving the show. My hotel with within a short walking distance on a well light major street and felt safe with enough other people around.   Even if you are more of a wallflower, as I usually am, you should go anyway. As someone else said earlier, you are never alone at a U2 show.

Way to go, Tuolumne and ultraviolet75! I am female also (and middle-aged) and I've gone to MANY U2 shows alone (including 5 on this tour) in multiple cities. There is nowhere I'd rather be; it does not matter that I am by myself. U2 mean the absolute world to me.

Yay !! Good for u, i feel the same, and have done that in the past. At the Vertigo shows in Holland i met a real nice fan. We are friends for 15 years now. You never know.....

it does not bother going to a U2 concert alone. actually i'd rather go alone because for me U2 is a very personal thing I find very hard to share with others who aren't U2. Unless I know the person is interested in hearing my story, I wouldn't say a word about it. I listen to U2 alone and, as i'm writing, I am realizing that i'm going to U2 in Paris alone...
Saying that, I remember bringing with me a couple of workmates to one the 360 shows in Dublin. I was also with close friends as well on this occasion.

I'd say I've gone to 2/3 of my shows alone. Much more fun to chat with others around you and revel in the fandom and excitement together. Of if that fails....wander around, find a new spot, take in the scenery, go outside for a beer, etc. etc.

For what it's worth, I'm a young lady and have gone to many shows in both familiar and strange cities. I've never had any issues or safety concerns. Worse thing that happened was getting stiffed on a cab ride home in Chile because the metro had shut down by the time the show ended.

Go to the concert on your own or miss it? No brainer for me. Of course I would.

I'd go in a heartbeat! You're never alone at a U2 show.

I remember having a chance to see Nirvana and I ended up not going because nobody else wanted to go.

YES! I went to both of the recent Phoenix shows, the 1st one with my husband, the 2nd one I went alone. I loved being there & sharing it with my husband, but I also loved being there by myself.
