I loved that movie (Shine a Light) when it came out but I rewatched it recently and it really suffers from the "change of shot every second" style that many concert DVDs have.

That reminds me of the whole plan for Nine Inch Nails to have a concert film in theaters that was directed by James Cameron. Apparently during their 2008 Lights in the Sky tour, they were going to record 3 shows in their entirely using Cameron's 3D team, yet Interscope pulled out last minute. Instead, they just released all of the video footage free to fans to do what they wished.

Why not Oliver Jeffers (sp?). They seem pretty keen on him.

I can appreciate Hamish's direction to a certain extent; his work on the Elevation DVDs is fantastic. It's just the editing that makes it unbearable sometimes, especially on the Chicago DVD. If he could just let the shots breathe for longer than a second, it'd be a LOT better.

There were times when I appreciated the Rose Bowl concert more because there were some longer, more stable shots. However, when it did fall back into the quick-cutting thing, it was MUCH worse than anything Hamish has ever done. I don't know what they were doing during "Vertigo," but let me tell you, this upcoming concert CANNOT have anything worse than that: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

U2 just needs a solid modern-day concert release that won't make me sick just from looking at it :P

Bring Phil Joanou back!

Yes!!! Perfect match.

I also hate the style of Hamilton but have to admit that the Rose Bowl-Blue Ray was even worser than Hamiltons stuff. Sadly.

Joneau, Jonas Akerlund, the girl from U23D, Scorsese (also close to Bono and Edge) - there are so many great directors

Perhaps this could also work, if Hamiton will direct the live feed and then stays away from the post-production process. If they get a really good cutter (not related to Hamilton) the DVD could probably rock

I'll be in Paris. That's cool. That would mean I've been at Sydney, rose bowl and Paris. Also Melbourne which was partly used for u23D

Anyone got a better strike rate?

Sorry briscoe, but I have. If you look on youtube, I've been in 8 live video shoots of U2 tours thus far. The best one containing me was pro-shot on an iPhone by a drunk female fan from directly behind me and you can definitely make out my ever increasing bald patch and hairy neck, so it was definitely me in the footage. Although the filmmaker was busy yelling woooow and singing incorrect lyrics as well as facebooking her friends, the footage is still marvellous and beats the hell outta mallet, Hamilton and joanou. Sorry pal  :D

I'm jesting starman, jesting. The only U2 gig I might attend this tour is dublin, which may be an acoustic affair, so more pity me!  >:(
