Unknown Caller Live
« on: July 30, 2015, 03:48:34 PM »
What do you think went wrong?
We all know that was a song they struggled to play live, hence why they dropped it.
I thought most of the other songs from that album translated well live, but unknown caller was kind of odd live, even with it being one of my 5-6 favorite tacks off of the album

So what is it about the song that you think led to it being the "odd track out" live?

it's one of the highlights of the Rose Bowl DVD for me.  along with Boots and Ultraviolet.

It wasn't a very exciting number live, I remember seeing it. And a lot of fans seemed utterly confused about the whole chanting part of the song. The only good part I remember was Edge's solo.

The biggest problem was they had absolutely no idea how to end it!

It did kind of have an awkward ending....

It's overblown space rubbish. It has truly one of the most special openings of a U2 track, then as soon as the verse comes in it takes a giant sh** on itself.

This song could have transitioned perfectly into streets with the organ!!!!
That would have been great

Man they should have tried that. Amazing grace/streets was perfectly fine though But unknown caller into streets might have been one of their greatest ever transitions

Half my section left for a p*ss break when they played it. One of U2's worst songs.

Don't say that........ one of their worst LIVE songs yes but Unknown caller is a very great song on no line on the horizon
