This doesn't mean a POP song is in the horizon.

Cheers,

J

The First Time would be great in the Sweetest Thing slot. it could still happen

Which yall thoughts? I don't like it at all. The studio version they played live was beautiful and the best imho. The last leg of 360 remix was just okay but I don't understand this new version at all.

I love that they played it (anything from NLOTH would make me smile), but I couldn't really enjoy it. On 360 it was big, powerful, exciting, LOUD. That opening chord hits and the whole place shook...instead they made it light, poppy, funky, whatever - they kinda killed everything I loved about it. I know it's a different environment and a different place in the set, but it just felt wrong to me.

360 was my first U2 concert experience, so I'm probably just attached to it.

Then you might want to check out this deviation of the song from the 360 tour in Denver: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

I like the way they did it in Amsterdam.
That version is horrible,,

How does magnificent fit in with the theme of the tour?  couldn't they have done Do You Feel Loved instead?

that's a Zooropa song, not Pop.

yeah but I kind of lump Zooropa in with Pop.  both seem to be massively underrated by the band.

Magnificent is a pretty good 'occasional' listen on the album, but live it was terrible on 360, even worse on the 3rd leg with the new arrangement, and listening to this from Amsterdam it is hard to believe they decided to go with this version.

It's just not a good song live.  If they are going to play songs from NLOTH they should give us the title track or Breathe.

yup, fair enough.

but I think the band actually love Zooropa much more than Pop.  They view is as an extension of Achtung Baby and have played much, much more of it since their respective releases...

THIS on the e stage!!! It would wind up looking like this I'd hope. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Or they rewrite it because of unhappy they are with the album. I think they would do the busker version they did in Helsinki. Breathe after the real thing would be epic

It's growing on me and it is definitely energetic and punchy/punky/funky a bit w/ the 90s vibe here and there. I bet I'd love it live in person! Hope I can be a firsthand judge of that soon! :)
