That's a quite good answer.

Yeah, it manages to be a good answer to the Observer writer and yet predictably critical of U2 at the same time. They should have quit in the 90s? Edge should lose his nickname because he's over 50? But no similar nickname criticism for Bono? At least be consistent, buddy. Your "street cred" is at stake here.

I'm glad they're tackling the important issues in the wake of the Paris terrorist atrocities.

I'm ok with criticising U2 when the facts are right but this article was transparently wrong. They weren't allowed to play and actually even if they were I think it would have been fair enough not to so soon after the events. It's also a badly written article. I think paying tributes as U2 did and promising to return to the city is fair enough under the circumstances

Well, one must never pass up an opportunity to critique U2, because although U2 had no to choice but cancel their shows, U2 still obviously sucks, and one would never, ever defend them under normal circumstances.

One writer being an idiot does not an illuminati interwebz conspiracy against U2 make.

Funny how he doesn't mention other artists that cancelled. Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Prince, Deftones... nothing on them. Also, the venue that Stiff Little Fingers played (The Mill) holds barely over 300 people. How many do the stadiums hold?

What a hack.

Oh yeah. Then we'd get the "U2 douchies hogging the spotlight from Stiff little fingers" moans.

Also, smaller/lesser known bands tend to open for bigger acts. Not the other way around.

Yeah...  He must have gotten all fluttery that something he wrote got a bunch of hits.  So he had to write a rebuttal to show his cred from back in his prime. Or his peak, because it seems these articles are a steep downward trajectory from that.

But...  He says he respects U2 and he's entitled to an opinion.  It's just that I find pi*s floating in a toilet more substantive than these two articles.

I think being indecisive and continually scrapping albums and bringing in new producers to rerecord everything is the biggest mistake of U2's career. ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Parisian authorities shut down the U2 show?  What's this guy's deal?

His deal is that he is a despicable piece of garbage. I hope he ROTS. The name "Tim Sommer" will forever be synonymous with the word "excrement" in my opinion. What  a hideous excuse for a human being.

They didn't do that with Pop.  Good decision.  Like choosing Dreamies over generic catnip.
