Has Streets lost something live?
« on: November 27, 2015, 05:22:49 AM »
To me it has.

Ever since they changed the key back from C# to D, it's been missing something and I can't put my finger on it.
I still enjoy it of course but, it doesn't have the same power. It hasn't been the same since the Elevation tour.

It's still great btw, just the standards were set so high

They should stop trying to replicate the same feeling with Streets, it has had the same function since Zoo TV and it is getting old.

I don't think so. Have a look around the arena when the lights go bright and the crowd goes nuts. Seems like they've lost nothing.

Well it is actually back in C# for this tour.
I really like the change to the keyboard intro.

Nah, I think it hits the spot every time. I sometimes think I could live without it but then get really into it when they play it. Guaranteed to get even the worst crowd going every time.

To me it's always been great live or on record, but the best interpretation of it was during the Popmart tour. The way it sounded then, almost dirty and electronic in the beginning was fantastic. But this tour it still rocks just as hard to me. It's a song that was meant to be played live and very loud.

The organ intro needs to be turned up to 11 and last at least 60 seconds before the guitar kicks in

I think it has. Just look at ZOO TV Sydney compared to this tour and it's not the same.

Yes, not close to where it used to be.  Bono is mailing it in, treating it as a victory tune.

Well it seemed like every arm in the house was in the air tonight. Fantastic version. Great roll in to it with Zooropa.

I'm clueless when it comes to what key a song is in - what key is Streets in originally and in what keys has it been played for the tours over the years?

NO!

I love the one in the HBO recording. The tempo is slower, but there is more meat and momentum. Bono sings marvellously the verses. As for the chorus, it could have more vocal power, but Adam compensates it with an amazing bass line.

And Zooropa is a great intro.

ps: yes, they could make the organ intro longer before the guitar kicks in.

Zooropa and Streets are two of my all time favorite songs, and I think the band absolutely nailed it with combining them on this tour. The transition is totally goosebumps-worthy and it gives the song a whole new meaning. Guess that's what they aimed for, and for me at last, it really hit the nail on it's head. Haven't lost a thing for me, always pure magic.

I still enjoy it to this day. I remember in Amsterdam there was a lot of jumping going on  :)
