I really doubt that Edge wasn't lip-syncing. The "Woo-Weh-Woo--Woo-Weh-Woo" thing definitely sounds pre-recorded.

He's actually singing "Been around the back, been around the front." Whether he's singing it live or not is anyone's guess.

I know this is true but all i'll ever hear is "litte red vette...little red vette"

Later in the tour, he was definitely singing for real, but I think there was an in-between where it was both live and a backing track.  If you watch the performance of MOFO at the MTV Europe awards, you can hear both (listen closely):

Thoughts while watching this: U2 was absolutely getting crapped on in the US during this era, but looking at this performance, I think it was the last time that U2 was undefined.  By which I mean, they didn't constrain themselves by other people's expectations at all.  Not so sure that's true anymore.  Are they still this fearless? And to be fair, would they still be around if they had continued to be that fearless?

Other thoughts about the clip: Bono is easily in the best shape of his life there.  He needs to hit the gym and come back like a leopard for the next tour.  Holding your jacket closed with one hand is so 2013.

I don't understand why Mofo is even an option on here.

It was definitely the best entrance, as well as one of the best opening songs.

I wouldn't put it on that list either, but it's not unjustifiable:

1) Too many sequencers
2) Adam's....clothes?
3) The opposite of a sing-along
4) Was Edge's backup singing real on the first leg of the tour?
I really doubt that Edge wasn't lip-syncing. The "Woo-Weh-Woo--Woo-Weh-Woo" thing definitely sounds pre-recorded.

and Bono was definitely lip synching the intro "woo-oooh" to Elevation.

Mofo was a great opener, a great rock song.

Disagree about Elevation being lip synched. The shows where Bono was hoarse/sick, the Woo-oohs at the start of Elevation sound raspy.

No he was definitely lip synching. But if there's a show you think he wasn't let me know and I'll give it a listen.

My 2 cents.  Prob Miracle. If only for the drumming... Larry does that bizarre 16ths beat on the high hat and it sounds wrong...

It's like how he does it on Elevation at the rose bowl 360 tour.

Neither Miracle or Elevation have 16ths in the recordings. Playing it like this live - it just sounds messy and out of time.

Let's not forget LAPOE , they opened some vertigo shows with it when they realized they hadn't given one iota of thought into the opener. Pretty much just throwing sh** at the wall to see what would stick. Typical under rehearsed u2 your opening dates.

What's the significance of this lyric, Exile?

Absolutely laughable that Mofo has any votes in this poll.
