What's wrong with liking John Denver?  :o I think he's great.

Here are some great performers/songwriters that get unfairly slagged on.

John Denver
The Bee Gees
ABBA
Neil Diamond
Barry Manilow

There is nothing wrong with liking John Denver. I made the original comparison and stand by it. I was just expecting to get virtual converse sneakers thrown at me by other forum members. That usually happens to me whenever I wonder out of the real world threads and post.

Sure, he could do a solo album.  He may not be the greatest singer in the world, but he does have a good enough voice to do an album.  As long as it wasn't an album of "Numb-esque" songs, I'd be ok.

He definetely could but not to upset the u2 thing, not now, maybe someday if they turn into one of those bands that go off and do their own thing.

He definitely could...just musically would need to be suited to his voice....not just a u2 style with him on leads.

I agree.  Or he could sing lead on an occasional song on future U2 albums (like he did with Seconds, Van Dieman's Land and Numb).  Edge's voice doesn't have the color and range that Bono's does, but it's still a nice voice.

I love John Denver, too!!  Grew up on his music.  But I digress...

Yes, I definitely think Edge has the voice to do a solo album.  Whether he would or not, who knows.  But his voice is very similar to Bono's: a lovely tenor, though a bit softer and smoother.

it would be amazing to see edge do an album away from the usual constraints of a U2 record.  edge definitely has the voice.  many bands have made it with many different types of voices.  personally i would love to hear what edge could do without larry, cause i feel sometimes larry pushes the band back to being less experimental.
