Nobody in U2 is daft enough to pursue a solo album.

If he can sing, he can do a solo.

I really REALLY want to start a fill in the blank thread that starts with "Nobody in U2 is daft enough to...".

Common decency. I'm afraid of what some Forum members would post ;)

Edge is defenitely capable. It wouldn't sound like U2's stuff--he'd be writing for his own range and vocal quality, so it would sound different. As to the emotional side of it, I think we assume that because he's usually singing backup (so he's more of a layer in the music) and because (in his words) his guitar playing is his voice. If he were to do a solo album, he'd be writing lyrics from his own head and heart, and he would be the one performing, so I think we'd hear more emotion in his voice. It'd probably be much more subdued than Bono, but you never know: he sings Seconds at Red Rocks with a fantastic growl.

Listen to Corpse(these chains are too long) off Passengers it's him singing, and it's rather cool.
