If it wasn't for Song for Someone, when would I have taken a bathroom break?

That was during "Invisible" for me.   :)

I was surprised that Adam wrote 'God bless', I'd always thought he, although spiritual, was the aetheist in the group.
I don't know for sure (obviously) but I read somewhere that when he went through rehab for his alcohol abuse, he became a person of faith. Who knows? I hope so!
I believe I heard Bono say that Adam was one of the most spiritual persons he knew, and that he was a man of God, even if it took him a long route to get there.  I suspect Adam's autobiography would be one of the more interesting of the band members.

I once heard from someone with some connections and whom I trust that Adam became a person of faith around the time of ATYCLB. This person pointed out that during interviews, Adam was now answering the faith-directed questions -- a marked change from the past. His autobiography indeed would be interesting.

No standalone singles? Uh, "Invisible."
One could make the argument Invisible was the beginning of the same album/tour cycle. The rumor was this was to be the first single of the Danger Mouse album, but due to the tepid reaction they got scared and went back to work bringing in Epworth and Tedder.
Shame.

That was my understanding as well. Bono even said when they released "Invisible," ""It's great to be back."

Yes Bono said that, but that was simply a reference to performing new material to the public. Invisible was a standalone release, tied to the Red campaign if I recall.  It was not the lead single from a new album, so cannot be comsidered part of this supposed rigid cycle.

While it may further erode this already shaky notion that the band is locked into a perpetual Album - Tour cycle, I'd throw in Night & Day (standalone single), Passengers album (not toured) and HMTMKMKM (standalone single and movie soundtrack contribution)...

Bono said that he was the most Zen person he knows. He's probably ventured into a spiritual aspect but most likely still atheist or maybe agnostic.

Adam said in so interview last year that it's very important about where you put your faith because it could bite you. The way he said it gave a pretty clear indication that he was not a believer, IMO.

I don't think he believes in the Christian god aspect. I think that since his wife is Brazilian that she most likely is Catholic and anything religious going on is most likely her.

Do you not like Adam's wife?

I just get the impression whenever i read a post where you mention her that you don't...

No, but that's not why I said that.

I thought so......wasn't that post that made me ask more an aggregation of previous posts made.

Why don't you like her....it strikes me as a little strange (for want of a better word) to dislike somebody you don't know who has a very, very low public profile....if she was in the public eye more, spoke out more - was a personality so to speak i could understand it more but she isn't so therefore i find it difficult to understand why you would dislike her....

I can read people (visually) and make a pretty accurate observation of their personalities. I see something and, therefore, have decided why I don't like her.

We'll just leave it at that.

Each to their own and all that - but that seems very strange to me......I'll leave it there too purely out of forum respect.

You're not alone, it is weird (not just to "not like" someone you don't even know, but to have an opinion of them at all). Some people here can get a bit creepy when it comes to their fandom. I get the whole dissecting U2's music thing, but to track their steps on social media and know exactly where they are at all times is just stalker-like in my opinion.

I agree. I think lots of people around here forget that they are people too, they live their own lives and other have things to do that are more important than putting out another album. U2 doesn't owe anybody anything.

Some really awful people photograph well and have eyes that look, well, kind.  Deceptively so, of course.  Some of the pics of the Orlando shooter made him look like a sweet, guy-next-door kind of person.

Bono also said that the band were very generous in donating material from their forthcoming album for the red cause. And the song appears on the album as a hidden bonus track.. and the song featured as a centre piece every night on tour as a kind of moment of transcendence from innocence to experience.  Lyrically it encapsulates the whole innocence concept too.. but yeah.. total standalone!

I had a dream sometime early this morning that u2 released a new song called 'sunspot' or something similar to that.  It may or may not have been the lead single off of SOE,  in fact it may have been just a very bold song to put out there in the summertime.  I can only describe this song as very aggressive and fast,  with soaring guitars and vocals,  perhaps a bit like the beginning of 'gone' in some places,  though with more urgency.

If you can imagine a giant fireball flying around the sun one minute and then a  massive void the next, this is probably what the song sounded like.  There is a place you can see and hear all of this some distance up and away from the noise of industry and technology.  When you come to this place you will witness the day and night sharing the same space,  stars twinkle into the melting horizon and puffy pastel clouds chase away any shadows of heaven's hidden treasure.

In my dream,  that is.  For I am just a nobody who knows no-one and i have had these dreams before....and they usually turn out wrong or ridiculous...so take it for what its worth.  Just don't look back if they tell you not to....

By chance did it sound anything like what Adam posted on Instagram last week?

I don't think so....not enough from Adam's clip to know if it sounded something like a dream or not....which makes me wonder if my dream was even real or a figment of my own very active imagination.  I mean,  how can you actually hear things in a dream?  Except that you do because it has to be that way.

What if death....the afterlife....is one very open ended dream?  I occasionally see people in that state who are no longer in this particular state of consciousness.  I interact with these people,  sometimes with words,  other times just an understanding which is perhaps a higher level of communication altogether.

I know where i am going with this but it's a little bit difficult to put it out there.....maybe that is whats in store for us?
