I'd rather this not turn political unless we're in the real world section of the forum.  I just want to enjoy the music discussion regardless of what political beliefs you may or may not have.

Sorry, but Bono blurred that line BIG time. Especially during the last tour and the whole #RefugeesWelcome thing. (Very prominent in the Paris DVD).

Right now in July 2016, U2's music and politics go together. Not a good time for Bono to do his preaching. Especially here in America, millions don't want to hear it.
what are you saying?? should europe let refugee kids drown and starve to death  would americans prefer that....i like to think not

This post is ridiculous .... Bono was not articulating a strategy to defeat terrorism, simply ad libbing that we shouldn't lose our sense of humor.
exactly... how can some people not see that
the reason they went after charlie hebdo was because they hated the way they lampooned the islamists

We are supposed to love our enemies, right?  It's not so easy, but who ever said it was?  Have you ever tried praying for ISIS members--not an easy task, but perhaps worth the effort?  I suppose those who get annoyed at Bono resent that he can love them at a safe distance.....private planes, security detail, etc.   It's easier to love them in a theoretical sense (as Bono often can--given his wealth and advantages) rather than up close and personal--as any of us are if we ever venture out to a large concert, ballgame, city, etc.  Still...I think it's worth the effort.  What if we did pray for these misguided souls who think that blowing up civilians is a straight ticket into heaven?

Seriously. I'm an American. Don't presume to tell me what I do or don't want to hear. Unless you're a Native American, someone in your family was an immigrant or a refugee. What if they'd been turned away?

If they do not love America and Americans, then they are not welcomed

Ian, at least people have the stones to call out what the real problem is. Also save me your isim reactions.

Sure, "Miry". The real problems are chronic poverty, lack of education, outside intervention, and corruption. Terrorism is a miserable consequence of these things. And, please tell me, which isim reactions? My reactions certainly aren't things like nationalism or racism.

Millions do, and U2 have no obligation to cater to nay-sayers. If U2 weren't an extremely political band, they wouldn't be anywhere near as good as they are.

That is a really...really bizarre metric.

I do believe all these things are coming to pass from what the bible says...
although i cannot quote out of my head, kind of scarey...it does feel overwelming
in the news each day. Bono being a large figure has to watch what he says and does
about everything...I havent heard what he has to say about it...there hasnt been
any terrorist threats in Ireland i dont think...not sure...

My Dad (RIP, Daddy) always used to say "it's the end of the world" when anything dire would happen. Maybe this time he would be right.
