Just saw a free show - Weezer with New Politics. It was fun and I was right by the stage.

Only the fact that Ben Curtis of Secret Machines was their drummer, that Brandon Curtis is apparently involved in their reunion tour.

Which bums me out, because I was recently listening to what few songs exist of Brandon's post-Secret Machines project, Cosmicide, and it is just STELLAR stuff.  He should be releasing an album and going on a tour in his own right, not as (yet again) a supporting member in someone else's band.

I don't know TD's stuff, though.

ok well 1 person has. so like the whole city is going nuts over this reunion show <or shows now i guess> over the psat week. i mean trust me im a gen-x alternative rock kid but they never did it for me. these were there two big hits they had 4 albums in the 90s then split up.

Oh, I remember "I Got a Girl"--had no idea it was them.  Never heard the other one.

Yeah, the fact Brandon has seemingly put his project on hold to do this seems like a waste to me.  Have you heard his songs as Cosmicide?  They'd have made a great new direction for Secret Machines.

yea i figured you'd know Girl. they're a local band here in Dallas so it's a HUGE deal that they're getting together.

To each their own, I suppose!  They just seem like another mid-90's band among dozens.  Maybe as a "local band makes it big" they'd be notable in the area, but I can't say I see the fuss otherwise.

Attended the first "big" show of the year on Monday: Hall & Oates and Tears For Fears.  I preferred TfF.  Daryl Hall can come off just a tad (or, extremely) smug, though it didn't really seem like either act were entirely thrilled to be there.  Glad I attended--my 11-year old self is happy now--but not sure I'll need to see either again.

Next up: Jean Michel Jarre, this Monday.

Wow, blast from the past. I grew up in Dallas during that time and I remember them. I have moved away, so hadn't heard they were reuniting. Hmm, interesting.
