What would you say is U2's most straight-up romantic song?  "All I Want is You"?

That or AMAW (speaking of fidelity/not wanting to lose someone, very romantic).

SFS is more of a "I made a mistake, but I'm hopeful we can finally move past this because you're who I want" romantic song.

As well as all these songs we could add Drowning Man and Promenade - the latter really is beautiful.

Ah, Promenade...I always have to play this twice when I listen to TUF.

With all the "Yahweh" bashing in the replies, I see that "Wild Honey" and "Song For Someone" have surpassed it on the poll as of Friday, the 9th of December.

I agree with "Wild Honey." Disagree with SFS. But for whatever reason, SFS seems to be pretty hated on these forums.

Drowning Man is definitely more straight forward of the two (in terms of romantic lyrics), but I really like Promenade.

it almost defies logic that a band as renowned as u2 can have 3 songs like those....

Interesting that people think "Drowning Man" is romantic.  I always took it as more of a friendship thing.

"Take my hand
You know I'll be there
If you can
I'll cross the sky for your love
And I understand
These winds and tides
This change of times
Won't drag you away
Hold on, and hold on tightly
Hold on, and don't let go of my love"

I mean, yeah, that could be interpreted as a friendship thing, but it's very easy to take it more romantically.

Hmmm...interesting perspective on "Drowning Man".  I'll have to re-listen to that one again.  Don't know how I missed the romantic element.  There are so many layers to U2's lyrics.

True romance IS friendship.

The best romantic relationships have a core of friendship, that is definitely true.

One of the many reasons why I enjoy this band's work.
