#32...that's not bad.

Why is Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame #99!? I thought he'd be in the top 10 for sure....

I can think of 10 singers better in his genre much less the entire spectrum of music.

Awww....come on..Steven Tyler can hit some pretty high notes. And that voice was made to be in rock n' roll.

I hate Steven Tyler.  I don't really agree with Rolling Stone's list.  McCartney is overrated (and I'm a huge Beatles fan)...and almost all soul style singers are overrated.  I'm a Nirvana fan, but Cobain wasn't that great of a singer and that's common knowledge.  With that and Janis Joplin and whatnot you can just tell it's a list of famous singers without any degree of how good they actually were/are factored in really.

It's not just about their voices from a technical viewpoint imo, I think it's about how they use their voices to communicate with their audience and express themselves.

To be honest, i'm surprised Bono's as low as he is in the list.

I would have placed him higher on the list.  I know any kind of list is subjective, but Bono's voice moves me.  Going on 25 years now and I'm still not tired of the way he expresses himself with his voice.  His voice may not be pure (but listen to MLK) or well-trained, but he gets a lot of emotional range out of it.

I think Billy Joe was right on the mark in his comments on Bono's singing. I could'nt have expressed better. I love the way Bono sings and how he expresses himself.

I guess if this was just based on technical singing ability, Bono's rank is ok.  If it was based on passion, he'd be #1!!

I love seeing Van the Man on that list too.  #24 I think it was.  Van and Bono are probably my two favorite singers.

I don't even listen to him much... so I wouldn't even call myself a "fan" of his... how is Frank Sinatra not on there?

Also, I think Pavarotti should be on there.

I think they only placed singers on the list that were considered to be in the Rock Era.. 1950s on.
