ATYCLB and 9/11. Spooky lyrical predictions/imagery
« on: May 05, 2017, 05:59:52 PM »
Some people think U2 capitalized on 9/11 with All That You Can't Leave Behind.  Ignorant to the fact that it came out October 2000.  Walk On was a healing song that won Record of the Year in 2002  Giving the album a re-listen and there are some very striking lyrics-images-themes that just give me chills.

Beautiful Day - Airplane imagery in video.  It was an incredibly clear beautiful day in the northeast US.

Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of - The title itself represents the mindset of many people and the horror some people experienced that day being literally stuck.
I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall, its a long way down to nothing at all  :'(

Walk On - You're packing a suitcase for a place none of us have been.  A place that has to be believed to be seen

Kite - Song about mortality
Rooftop to the basement
Visual of the tower collapse

Peace On Earth - Lamenting on being sick of sorrow and pain following a terror attack.
They're reading names over the radio, all the folks the rest of us won't get to know :'(

When I Look at the World - I'm in the waiting room can't see through the smoke. I think of you and your Holy Book when the rest of us choke :'(

New York - Title alone
Voices down the stairwell
Religious nuts, political fanatics in the stew happily not like me and you.  That's where I lost you

You forgot the lyrics to 'Please'. Read and listen after the Bridge. Iggy Pop's Open and Up and Bleed is pretty awesome too in terms of 9/11 prophecy.

Instantly thought of this when i saw the thread title. But yeah ATYCLB is absolutely full of lyrics that can be related. I know a lot of fans seem to slate that album, But it does resonate with a lot of what was going on in the world at the time

I don't want to make light of the horrible events, but....Elevation?

As someone who lived through that horrible day, this is pretty tacky and tasteless of both of you.

Missey, you're absolutely right.
A few posts have been deleted, and if anyone else wants to joke about this subject, then we will have no problem banning you. Am I being a hard ass? Sure, but some things aren't fit for jokes.

Missey. I apologize.  As OP I approached the subject with a respectful somber tone.  In my daily life I'm a bit of a light-hearted comedic personality. In the internet age we often only see avatars, not recognizing the personal stories - experiences behind each person.  It's easy to slip up in a response when you are going back and forth in a call and response format.  There are plenty of other places for us to have fun and use humor.

I would like to apologize too and I have deleted my comment. I didn't mean to make fun of a horrible incident but my comments did just that. I was wrong and I'm very sorry.
