U2 to NZ
« on: May 26, 2017, 02:10:07 PM »
Hi - don't know how to post a link - can someone search nz herald.co.nz and post the article.....basically indicating U2 will be touring NZ next year.....and how someone from management was chasing photos of Greg Carroll..

As an aside when U2 released One Tree Hill in NZ it went pretty much straight to No 1 - back in the day there were only a handful of tv programmes showing music vids.....Ready To Roll was the programme to watch at I think 6pm on a Saturday or Sunday, the programme always ended with that weeks No 1 single ... As U2 hadn't made a video TVNZ hastily made a clip which from memory had some scenic shots of NZ along with Bono and Larry at Greg's tangi.....

I've often thought this clip would turn up on Youtube one day....I'm sure I have a copy on a VHS tape somewhere.....
Anyone else got a copy they could upload ?

Last time they played in CHCH was the Lovetown tour, that'd be really cool if they did

Still hoping this will be an SOE tour and not the JT Tour. Article does not really provide any concrete information.

Yeah would be great if they did choice ChCh, it worked for The Boss, I'm just nervous that Ed Sheerans decision to overlook the city in favour of Dunedin may be followed by the band.

They actually played Lancaster park 1 Dec 1993 for the Zootv tour.
I really can't see them fitting any of their stages in the current Ami stadium and would imagine Dunedin would be better suited.
In saying that I think if they do come it will be the usual Auckland 2 night jobbie like the last 2 tours.

I reckon it will be SoE tour. I dont reckon there will be any additional JT30 shows. THEN AGAIN, if the band further delay the release of the album, maybe they will take the JT shows back out on the road

Be interesting if they combined one of the original ideas of the SOI tour here... different shows each night in each city... night 1, TJT. Night 2, SOE - They'd make a fortune, could double their tour revenue almost guaranteed and simplify their schedule.  Stay in each city for a week. 1 day set up, 4 nights alternating shows, 2 days off.. rinse, repeat.  It would also be a first.  I can't think of any band who, essentially, toured two albums at the same time.  Being creative with your production design, the staging and visuals could be unique each night as well.  Would get them lots of press, get their fans off their back and please all the fans in the regions of the world they don't get to much. A win, win, win.

Hey U2, if you need more management ideas let me know I'd be happy to come on and consult to get you out of your box.
