you've got questions, I've got answers:

Twilight*
Gloria*
New Year's Day
A Sort Of Homecoming
One Tree Hill
Angel Of Harlem*
So Cruel*
Stay
Your Blue Room
Mofo
Beautiful Day*
City Of Blinding Lights
Moment Of Surrender*
Cedarwood Road

...the asterisks signify instances where the song I list as best from a particular album isn't my fave song from said album.

As usual, this could look pretty different a few months from now.

Boy - Electric Co
October - Gloria
War - Sunday Bloody Sunday
The Unforgettable Fire - Pride
Wide Awake In America - BAD (THIS VERSION is magical. I had to include this Live EP because I find the UF version so flat and almost unlistenable, yet almost all live versions end up as favorites.)
The Joshua Tree - Exit
Rattle & Hum - All I Want Is You
Achtung Baby - Ultraviolet
Zooropa - Zooropa
Original Soundtracks I - Your Blue Room
Pop - Wake Up Dead Man
All That You Can't Leave Behind - In a Little While
How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb - Love and Peace or Else
No Line On the Horizon - Unknown Caller
Songs of Innocence - This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
Songs of Experience - Blackout

Most Impressive Songs (instead of "best" songs)
Boy - A Day Without Me (Edge's delay guitar riff was unlike anything else heard in this era)

October - Tomorrow (written and performed with maturity beyond their years)

War - Like A Song... (every band member shines on this recording)

The Unforgettable Fire - Wire (fast-paced, artistic and minimalistic all at the same time)

The Joshua Tree - With Or Without You (absolutely timeless and recorded with such simplicity)

Rattle & Hum - All I Want Is You (a recording with so much going on, Edge's solo is so powerful too)

Achtung Baby - The Fly (a complete overhaul of the standard definition of U2)

Zooropa - Zooropa (experimental, weird, wonderful and a classic album opener)

Pop - Mofo (U2's most experimental song with so many different things happening)
All That You Can't Leave Behind - New York (soft and subtle opening transcends into chaotic rock'n'roll)

How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (a heartfelt tribute to Bob Hewson)

No Line On The Horizon - Moment Of Surrender (one of the finest pieces of music ever recorded)

Songs Of Innocence - Raised By Wolves (channelling their inner defiance of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' but complimented nicely with Edge's subtle piano tones)

Songs Of Experience - The Little Things That Give You Away (for me, no other U2 song builds and builds to an explosive climax more than this one - the entire 'sometimes' section leaves me with goosebumps every time)
