Loved it when Bono was pointing at Adam!

Yeah Bono pointed at Adam during the song to put him in the spotlight.

Sigh. I love Adam.

Was Larry wearing glasses?

Yup glasses.

This was a tough one, and pretty depressing for me.
The upper level behind the stage was blocked off due to slow sales.
The crowd didn't even stand up until Beautiful Day, and sat for most new songs.
Bono had a hard time getting the crowd, (in the stands) involved.
The new songs were not well received.
The show is over choreographed.
I like when they just rock out - Gloria, etc.

I deserve to be in GA. If there were 100 of me in GA, me and my clones would raise the roof.

I will try to raise the roof from the nosebleeds but somehow I doubt how effective I can be.

But I'm gonna try.

This is me EVERY TIME.  I have only been in GA twice, and it is the BEST, but my husband Oldy McOlderson doesn't want to anymore, wahhhhh.

I have been dancing my butt off at shows since I was 16 years old (the Forum, Sting, 1988) and I ain't quitting yet!  I'll be raising the roof of the Fabulous Forum at LA 1&2.  WHO'S WITH ME?

I'VE NEVER HAD GA
WAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Guys, yes, raise the roof.

Think about it this way. Everybody wants a piece of them. Bono in particular, we collectively demand it.

He will work his ass off for us and give us that piece. We may notice that what he is able to give is not the same as what we're used to, but he's gonna give all he's got.

But he wants that piece of us in return.

How hard must it be to give all that energy to people just sitting and staring at their phones.

Guys, give them, and especially our frontman who needs it, a big piece of us. He's working to give you a great time, meet him there. If you have to jazz yourself up, do it.

I haven't watched any yt vids of 13 on ei, but I like the significance of opening with liawhl and closing with 13, in accordance with the album.

I always thought liawhl and 13 are best bets for sad movie soundtrack, if U2 went the route of seeking relevancy from blockbusters.

13 on the BBC special was great. I know, ei is a different stage and setting. Th MIGHT not close w 13 if they realize traffic leaving the arena (when the band is hurried out) is higher than past 2015 & 2017 tours. Practical reasons.

Here are my stream-of-consciousness notes from GA last night:

Love is LIVE and SO good
Blackout KILLS
Lights of Home is working really well, stage setup is good
Beautiful day is in the right place
IWF still hype
Gloria not the best for this crowd?
RFD works! Crowd into it
The ocean a bit too rambly, crowd fading
Iris brought them back, hits harder than I expected
Opposite for Cedarwood, big meh
SBS shouldn't be acoustic in this spot, still works though
Raised By Wolves is GOOD
UTEOTW is BETTER
first act is REALLY good.

People do love their elevation
And their vertigo
And their desire!!
Macphisto is better tonight
Acrobat rules, crowd got more into it as it went on, edge's solo EXPLODES
Best Thing works better in the arena in this spot, good cool-down from the madness
Likewise for SATS! Didn't lose the crowd as much as I thought it would
Pride is still the biggest song in the universe, meh on stream but huge in the room
Transition to get out is great (<--- but here's where things start to go wrong)
Get out not totally winning over the crowd like i thought it would! 😞

Is this show too long?

American Soul is a bad song. Crowd likes it more than me but that isn't saying much. It might just be the staging with the flag. Not much excitement at all.
COBL is only working because of the cool staging and lights. Does not feel like the climactic closer it should be.

One sounds good but people are starting to leave
Nobody is into Love Is Bigger (except me) 😞

This show is definitely too long

Tons of people leaving before the end of Love Is Bigger, This spot needs to be WOWY or Bad
I really like 13 to close the show but people are streaming out.

---
Overall I had tons of fun and GA was rockin. Very cool setlist for hardcore fans but it's too long (never thought I'd say that!) and is crying out for a BIG song towards the end.

Most American crowds are rubbish perhaps?

There’s a brilliant video of Edge playing Pride IN THE CROWD at the earlier shows and he’s surrounded by middle aged folk messing with their phones. Get into the show people!

As Louis C.K. said....”why are watching a sh**ty version of something that’s happening 5 feet infront of your face? Why are you taping this? you’re NEVER gonna watch it!”

This was my wife's first U2 show and my first in a very long time. My wife, who works in refugee resettlement, cried during RFD. I think this show fully converted her to a major fan after years of a gradual build. For us, the show was essentially perfect. The U2 BBC special was available on the in-flight entertainment system on our flight home, so we watched that together.

My only real complaint was the immensely intoxicated lady in the redzone with the piercing scream who felt the need to swing her jacket wildly in the air smacking other people and who also tried to kiss a guy she didn't know who seemed underage. I didn't care for the people smoking on the floor either.
