Book Of Yor Heart - A masterpiece!

Hi folks! Years ago, I was on a very dedicated U2 Fan-Forum, and there was this topic "Now playing…" (or so) if not nailed, so Always at the top of the general U2 discussion. It made me rediscover many a song. Basically, once we/(you) log in to browse or prior to posting a comment, we just take the time to jot down the U2-song that we are currently listening to, with or without comments. From the most famous to the nearly unheard of. If a similar thread already exists, then consider this a new bump.

Now, since this took me a couple of minutes to write down, I am already listening to Another marvel: Wire, Stockholm, 1985.

I've been listening to In a Little While lately. I liked it ok when it came out but now I think it's great.

I love Bono's Otis Redding vocals here, really different and stretching his wings, and the song type is just right for it.

The lyrics are poignant, an impressionistic painting that expresses something without belaboring any particular detail. His promises that he knows he can't keep are bittersweet.

Edge singing the end of it in Boston is a bloody treasure:

A man dreams one day to fly
A man takes a rocket ship into the sky
Lives on a star that’s dying in the night
And follows in the trail, the scatter of light

Is probably my favorite U2 lyric.  It is perfect.

Agreed, that version of In A Little While is pure magic. The vocals, lyrics, and Edge singing at the end is fantastic.  I love the part about Joey Ramone.  It's a testament to the power of U2 that Joey was listening to U2 on his deathbed. My last couple years in HS ('77, '78) were all about the Ramones and The Clash. So, it means something to me that Joey was listening to In A Little While before he died. RIP - Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer.

On a somewhat different note, I've always been enamored with U2's October.  I gave up the punk thing after hearing Gloria on MTV one night.  That and several other factors (re: giving up the punk thing).  U2 was my band after that.  Always will be.

Someone special wrote to me recently that in October, U2 "created hymns that sound like that. Hymns!!!"  And that's what they did in an atmosphere of soaring guitar and stark echoes.  It's an amazing record, in my opinion.

I was there [but I can't post the Youtube link - what's the secret? An instruction PM ad hoc someone? There are several takes, and I wanted to post you my favourite], and I have a specia bond with that stadium since a family member of mine built it.

Now playing: Luminous Times. I still have the copy of the magazine "Musician" and just reaad the review. I remember buying it at an airport and reading it on a plane. I do not know for sure, but I truely think my fellow passenger neihbour was reading said article as well.

Been re-exploring Zooropa.  I've always liked that album and still do.  It's about half way thru Some Days when Edge kicks in with some fuzzy, distorted guitar work.  Cool.

I've also been re-exploring Zooropa, an absolute gem of an album. No bad song on there. Numb always been one of my favourites, The Wanderer I've grown to love more over the years.
