I'm going to show some love for the last ranked song on the last ranked album: Is That All?

I do not care if the opening riff is The Cry.
I do not care if there are hardly any lyrics or if they suck.
I do not care if people rank it dead last.

Larry MURDERS the drums.
Adam's bass is a MONSTER STOMPING THE WORLD.
When I listen to this song, I get up and YELL. Very, very quietly if I'm not alone in the house and listening on earbuds BUT I YELL IN MY SPIRIT.
When I listen to this song, I am kicking ASS and I am taking NAMES. Your name. I'm taking it. Watch out.

That is all.

IS THAT AAAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAA-AAAAAAA-AAAAA-AAAA-AAAAA-AAAALLLLLLLLL??
IS THAT ALL?
IS THAT AAA-AAAAALLLLLL? IS THAT ALL?
<Apocalypse>
<Bass dies>
<Feedback ensues>
<Murdered drum gasps and flings drumstick to floor, bounce, bounce, bounce>
<Four guys lay on floor with dead instruments strewn around them in a heap>
<Silence>

Wow, fellow "October" lovers, unite!  I've always believed that album kicks some serious a##, too!  The heavy rhythm section, the brooding, spiritual lyrics, the rawness of it all.  One of my favorite go-to albums of all time, especially when I'm driving.

Oooh, an October love fest!  Count me in!  It's for sure my favourite of the first three albums.

I love Is That All?!  Sure, that awesome riff is taken from 'The Cry', but that song was never officially released on an album or single or anything, so to me it doesn't really count.  I'm just glad they used that riff somewhere in their official catalogue.

I Fall Down, Rejoice, and With A Shout (Jerusalem) are all underrated, kick ass rock songs as well.

And Scarlet is such a powerful song too.  So much of a story told from just one repeated lyric.  I remember being pleasantly shocked standing in GA during the 360 tour when they started into this.  I never in a million years would have thought they'd dust that off...

That's it, I'm off to listen to the album now for the first time in a while.

After visiting my mom these past few months, Ive been visiting a used CD/DVD store in our downtown recently with my kids- bought copies of most U2 albums to play in the car.  I too think October is a lot better than people rank it. Title song, Fire, Is that all, and TOMORROW (wow! Amazing) are incredible. Have been playing it a lot.

Great album.

That sounds like fun. How well do your kids tolerate U2?

Gone

The freakin Edge, man. Screechy riffs alternated with his minimalist keyboards.

And when the band comes in "you hurt yourself."

Slide guitar acheiving liftoff.

Wut. The Edge gets pi**ed off? The Edge throws his guitar to the floor?

Dave Evans? That Edge? WTF?

Gotta see this...

Dallas Schoo is a lovely, lovely man who works way harder than any other guitar tech and he and Edge have a great respect for each other.

If you want to meet Dallas check out the rig rundown he gives, which is normally something only a guitar tech nerd would love but I'd literally watch a weekly show of him showing picks and pedals and strings and, like, even cables. I'd watch him explain batteries. And finishes. He is a ray of sunshine and brilliant.

Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way

Reminds me of an unforeseen busstrip to Elephant and Castle, London, prior to Christmas, in search for a particular dachshund-sweater for my Sister, att Peac*cks (no publicity, no offence).
