I firmly believe that "Crumbs From Your Table" is right up there with their very best. And they don't ever play it live. Or, maybe one of you have seen them play it live. I have to confess: my flesh tingles when I'm talking a walk and that song starts playing on my Hi-Resolution Sony Walkman (I'm an 'auditory learner': I demand only the very best fidelty).
What are you thoughts and impressions of "Crumbs From Your Table"? 8)

It's my favorite from HTDAAB. I dont think it's quite up there with their best but its a very good and underrated song for sure.

Faultless guitar playing merging perfectly with Bono's vocals.

Not 'in you're face' enough to be a lead single. However could have been released as a later single. They did do a promo video for it.

Not sure it's there best song no one knows about. U2 fans know about it. There are dozens of other great U2 songs non U2 fans won't know about.

Way WAY up there for me.  In my top 20 if not top 10.  Very U2-ey.  A deep track treasure.

Bombastic guitar from the Edge with subtle, existential pleading from Bono.. "You speak of science and wonder.."

Not science...
Signs and wonders...

Its a reference to evangelical concerns around “belief” when trying to help people whose physical needs are too great to even think about such things.

It's a great song, full of accusing, in your face lyrics aimed at the placid American Church.  The musicality of it is spectacular as well

I agree, have always loved this song, along with "Yahweh," another one that gets ignored and even dissed a lot.

While the album was a success commercially, it is surprisingly ranked poorly by many die hard U2'ers. Something that I do not understand as it is in my top 5, even on some days being number 3 for me.

I've always been critical of the HTDAAB album because I couldn't get into it for a year or so, with the exception of a few songs which I enjoyed right away. This song is still my 2nd favourite from the album, after "Vertigo".

For me Bomb gets off to a strong start. The middle section is average before 'Crumbs' & 'Fast Cars' ensure a good ending.

I try not to think about 'Yahwah'.

One of the best songs off the album, one of their best songs from the 00s, and maybe Bono's best lyrics of the 00s. A bitter, scathing indictment of how America, and the west in general, were largely ignoring the AIDS crisis in Africa. Angry Bono is when he does his best lyrics. (But it does have largely the same chord progression as Walk On...)

Would have made a good album opener. Those impressive opening chimes is U2 all over & something they should embrace.

However 'Vertigo' was also a perfect opener.
