Where The Streets Has No Name
« on: March 18, 2019, 02:24:39 AM »
The song is one of their  live moments in every show, my favorite performences of the songs has always been 1989-12-26 - Dublin and 1992 Outside Broadcast MTV.
In the recent years Bono haven't put much energy and effort on the song, but on the 2015-07-02 - Chicago show he suddenly came in other thougts.
I don't know why he doesn't sing it like this more, he really sounds like he did on Lovetown.

Listen from 2:20:40 in the video below, the lines "The city's a flood
And our love turns to rust" just begin shortly after that time.

Besides the lyrical miss in the opening line of the song, this is one of the  best version ever to me, the band plays it very well and Bono mix his 1989 voice with his current voice and it gives the song an energy I haven't seen since the 80s.

You wont regret listen to this performences :)

A tips is also to listen to WOWY from the show, Bono does a really good job in that one too.

i like that.  hard to find a lousy version of streets.

i always gravitate to boston 2001 elevation tour

epic beginning on this version where bono quotes from You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login.  the quote is a part of psalm 116:

What can I give back to God
for the blessings hes poured out on me?
Ill lift high the cup of salvationa toast to God!
    Ill pray in the name of God;
Ill complete what I promised God Id do,
and Ill do it together with his people.

he's used this before - i think at the super bowl halftime?

my favorite though You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login from 1987

WOW!! Wow! Wow! What an amazing concert! I've not heard it before; thanks for sharing.

Haven't listened all the way through yet but jumped around on some songs. Bono sounds AMAZING. Not just great pitch, but great energy too. Even his speaking between songs has a lot of verve.

I listened to California, and it was fantastic. Not the easiest song to sing, either.

Love how he opened Streets with "I wanna feel... uh, and run" lol. So Bono.

Super Bowl, it was:

Oh Lord, open my lips
So that I may shew forth thy praise

That having also been quoted in Gloria, "loosen my lips."

I believe this was the fifth and final night in Chicago during the I&E tour.  I went to night one and two (24 and 25 June) and remember Bono being hoarse especially during night one.  I thought I remember reading he had bronchitis.  I'm sure by this last show it was cleared up, but wow sounded great!

I always was very fond of the version they did for the Popmart Tour that was on the Please CD single. Great version right there.

I've always liked the transition from Please to Streets from the PopMart Tour.
