Types of gigs you wish U2 would do...
« on: July 16, 2019, 11:12:44 AM »
1) More club shows like London Astoria, Roxy Theatre or Apollo Theatre. Always red hot atmospheres at these sweaty gigs. iTunes festival would be good, again it’s a tight venue usually.

2) More festivals. Glastonbury was good but you feel they could really do one better.

3) A Return to Red Rocks (playing only 80’s catalogue perhaps).

4) Royal Albert Hall

5) Do a rarities show and sell it as such.

6) Achtung Baby anniversary tour. No 80’s stuff, just Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop.

7) More radio broadcast shows!

I think the only one I wouldn't care for would be a festival show, if they aren't able to have their regular stage setup. You're spot on about Glastonbury. I think newer songs don't work as well without the (amazing) visual presentation they carefully craft, and they didn't have that at Glasto.

I'd prefer the old stuff in clubs or Red Rocks.

A rarities show would be a U2 nerd's dream.  :)

Radio broadcasts are always welcome!

AB tour would be right up my alley.

I'm very happy with what they have:

Arenas
Supporting new albums
Mix of new, hits, and a few rarities

Simulcast every gig live on U2.com for paying members, $5 each, most of the proceeds going to One/RED, the rest going to Larry's botox treatments.

A mix of new countries not visited or slightly more obscure venues like Mohegan Sun arena.
Royal Albert Hall
Exclusive fan shows in theatres/clubs and more radio performances.  There were a few of these for NLOTH (too many for the BBC as the Beeb got a little ticking off for too much bias....)

This! Plus maybe people that attended the concert get a code download it afterwards, of course it'd end up pirated anyway.

and this! Time to forget about being relevant, gaining new fans. Time to treat your loyal fans to something special! Yeah, I'm dreaming!

Festivals suck - no thank you.
Clubs are way to small and hardly anyone would be able to see the shows, no thanks.
Stadiums generally are too big but fun sometimes.

I like arenas, which they are doing.
A Red Rocks show would be awesome.

I'm thinking that these two would be disappointing for Bono just doesn't have the pipes anymore to do 'em justice...  I don't think that they sounded all that good live even back then...  they'd have to be reworked, whether acoustically etc. to be pulled off...  the time in the set could be put to better use, in my opinion...:-)
