Remarkable U2 Radio Documentary from 1982
« on: August 01, 2019, 03:28:42 PM »
Has anyone heard this before? It tells the story of how U2 got started, which is pretty much what we've heard before from sources like U2 By U2, but the remarkable thing is the voices, the first-person testimony from the band, early producers, Mount Temple teachers, and even Adam's mother!

No, I haven't.  I love Adam's mother's voice though.  Jo Clayton.  I think she is no longer with us?  But they really were a British family.  I can see why Adam stood out a lot in Mount Temple in the 1970's. There would have been a certain 'coolness' about the family.

Jo Clayton cracks me up. In 1982 she was still hoping Adam would get over the rock thing. Of course U2 weren’t huge yet.

I'm fairly certain she passed shortly after the conclusion of the 360 tour.

So at least she lived to see her slacker son get rich and famous. She seems to have been ambitious for him to become a worldly success.

I remember reading that she spent her final years in County Mayo, Ireland.
