Meeting the band
« on: April 02, 2020, 10:26:59 PM »
I had an interesting thought, and I'd like your opinion.
As the band gets older, they will probably have fewer and fewer fans.  There will be fewer people that want to meet them or hear them play.  So it follows logically that all of us die-hards who hang in there will, with a small amount of effort, eventually meet them if we want to.  Does that make sense?

If you live somewhere where the band spends time like Dublin or the South of France, you get more chances to meet them in person. Meeting them in their seventies or eighties would probably make me feel more sadness than joy... For obvious reasons...

For a less popular band maybe for U2 I dont really think they will ever be an easy band to meet.

I'm not sure meeting them in their old age would be that sad.  I mean, it's sad that Bono's kind of lost his glorious looks, but he's still the same soul who created so much beauty through his lyrics and his open heart.  I would just like to be able to say hello some time, even if we're both 80!

And I'm older than anyone in the band, so they look fine to me. :D

No, it will not get easier unless they retire. Ive met them and there are larger crowds now than 28 years ago during ZooTV.

Probably not unless you frequent where they spend time.  I doubt the Rolling Stones are easy to meet either and they are in their dotage lol.  I have no idea what I would say to them even if I did meet them, their lives are so removed from mine, so I will just continue to enjoy their music and the occasional video of a much younger Bono lol!

They may come out to meet fans before shows less and less and they get older as they may need their energy for the show.
Plus, safety concerns will probably get more restrictive than less restrictive.
And all of the above thoughts are not considering the life in a Covid-19 world..
