When will we have new album?
« on: June 19, 2020, 03:43:54 PM »
Hello all! When do you think we will have a new album? Do you think the covid-19 could push a new album forward? Today I was listening to Zoo tv from Sydney and felt a little sad when thinking about how the last albums really could not live up to this era. However, being an optimistic I always look forward to a new album and in the hope that the next will change everything. Today I am listening to Bob's new great album, he is 79, and I choose not to give up on our lads.

I think 2023 is realistic.  Either way, I don't see them doing a full blown new album until they can safely plan a tour which won't be until there's a vaccine that's been widely distributed so that pretty much knocks out 2021.  Nor would I attend a tour until there's a vaccine that's been widely distributed and I've had a chance to get it.

I'd love it if they'd do some kind of digital EP or something similar just for us to have something to get through 2020.

I go with the Nov 2022 option. So it won't have taken more than 5 years since the last one. There will be no corona issues by then and a worlwide tour will take place in 2023. Until then hopefully we will receive some live recordings as a gift and the JT DVD. I also dream of an earlier release of unreleased material in the form of an EP, may be from the NLOTH/SOA time.

I agree with Nov 2022.  Which means it'll be March 2023.  Although in the meantime, Adam delivers a free-form jazz record using a stand-up bass, bringing back the horn section from the War album.

My immediate thought was when will they be able to do a worldwide tour. Obviously too hard to predict but I would think earliest we likely to see an album is end of 2022. Could be good to the next greatest hits for Christmas this year. 2000 to 2020. Might get a new song or 2 with that.

Seems like a lot of people are tying any new recording to the ability to tour. I hope U2, and other artists, would think outside the box on this and not tie any music to a tour. They should be doing just the opposite in fact. Both Taylor Swift (working with Aaron Dessner of all people) has a huge release and Beyonce is  doing her video album project. I would hope the band would not tie them self to the need to tour to drive them to create some new music during these times.

Seems we may have an anniversary issue of ALYCLB - not new but something!
