sometime you can't make it on  your own
all because of you
love and peace or else
original of the species
YHWH
the refugee
when love comes to town
stand up comedy
get on your boots

That's it. everything else is at least good.

God Part II, half about ATYCLB but especially "Grace", the line from "Miracle Drug" about a newborn baby's head.

God Part II definitely gets a lot of love, but it stood out to be as something especially bad from an album full of skippers.  I'm not against giving it another shot.

ATYCLB has a really slick sound - even for U2 - that I've never been able to get past, and the lyrics are especially cheesy.  Everything I've heard used against U2 seems to be amplified on that album.  Atomic Bomb isn't necessarily cringe-worthy as much as it is boring.

When Love Comes to Town
Love and Peace or Else

Regarding the first: I love BB King, but honestly he's the only redeeming thing about that song.  The songwriting just sucks, and the chorus starts to grate by the third time through.

WHAT !!!! The songwriting sucks? Did you watch Rattle & Hum? Bono reading the lyrics proudly to BB King and BB replies "You're mighty young to write such heavy lyrics."

I was there when they crucified my Lord
I held the scabbard when the soldier drew his sword.
I threw the dice when they pierced his side
But I've seen love conquer the great divide.

Bono hasn't written a lyrics that good in 10 years.

Setting aside the cringe factor, the best song U2 ever recorded is, without a doubt, "Freedom For My People." Such passion, such grittiness. They must have had some state of the art production technology, because I don't know how else they could have achieved that crackly sound and gravelly effect on Bono's voice.

FFMP will always be the touchstone against which everything else they record is judged. PERIOD.

Oh here we go again! There was a thread like this a while back. So many of my favorite songs are always on this hit list like Grace, Wild Honey & Wild Horses.  I used to say perhaps I have a bad case of Bad Song Disease!

I'm right there with you.  I think those are great songs....and if liking them is wrong, I don't want to be right.
