Set opener for U2360
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:40:36 AM »
Ok, so I have it down to 3 canidates, in order of preference.

Magnificent
GOYB
Breathe

maybe preceding them is the "Fex-Being Born" thing over the PA as the house lights dim.

WHATEVER HAPPENS I pray tey don't open with that B-SIDE (rework of The Fly) Title Track!

I was trying to think of this myself last night while falling asleep listening to NLOTH. I felt as though FEZ-Being Born would be good over the PA, as you mentioned, but as far as an opening song, I just don't know. There's nothing with a really long, upbeat intro on this album, like City of Blinding Lights was for the Vertigo Tour. Maybe someone will come up with a good remix a la Elevation...?

Can see remixes of Fez-Being Born as that musical intro that leads into the opening song, considering Fez already had that "Let Me In The Sound" beginning to it...might lead right into Get On Your Boots as the set opener.

Having said that, I am still predicting that they open the show with NLOTH.

I think opening with Fez-Being Born would be really awesome and daring.

They'll probably open with Magnificent, with the intro extended.
Then go right into Boots.

They should totally open with Wake Up Dead Man, right after Bono rips off his own opening (the "Everyone, EVERYONE!!!") by shouting at various decibel levels "Let me in the sound!".  Imagine:  After listening to Bono shout over and over "Let me in the sound!  Let me in the SOUND!!  LET ME IN THE SOUND!!!" and we all get really excited, you hear a soft acoustic guitar and Bono sing "Jesus, Jesus help me, I'm alone in this world..."  That would be...fantastic. ;)

Magnificent

The intro seems to fit with U2 walking onto the stage and then going right into it like COBL.

It has to be Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). There's no other choice really.

How about launching directly into A Celebration after Christmas (Baby Please Come home)? :D

My guess is either NLOTH or Magnificent.   :)
Both have great anticipatory notes, NLOTH coming to a blast of energy and Magnificent with a softer build that would be really effective with lighting.
I don't think they'd open with Boots or Breathe.

As for Christmas... they can be in my stocking anytime!  lol. Please.  Stay!   :D

They could then follow that up with Elvis Ate America. A majority of the stadium would walk out and I would just be sitting there wondering what the hell just happened.

In seriousness, I agree with everyone on Magnificent. It has everything to be a perfect opener, and like p8ru2 said, it would be extremely effective with lighting.

Fez is going to be a great opener for the Encore! I dont think it will work to open the show, i also am really not sure if they're gonna play it live, it's one of my fav tracks, but i just got this bad feeling, to open, i'm guessing:

1.Boots
2. No Line On The Horizon
3. Breathe
