Elevation? (WTF?)

Elevation and Tripped through your Wires?  Whoever suggested those as being worse than Boots should give up their U2 fan card.  Boots is not their best but it is better than the 8 songs I listed above.

If you're referring to me with respect to Elevation, I never said I thought it was their owrst song (I don't). I said the lyrics have less meaning than Boots, which they do. Plus why should anyone who dislikes a U2 song that you like "give up their U2 fancard"? That's ridiculous.

NO, already! The song rocks! played the whole album yesterday on a 2 hour drive to NY and back. Loved it!

I DO NOT HATE ELEVATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

phew!

I really like it, it is indeed a rocking song and makes me feel good to listen to it. But I think the lyrics to Boots are in fact better and make more sense. Elevation is still probably the better song though.

Elevation, Vertigo and Boots are pretty much the same template for a single. Elevation does have fairly ropey lyrics, Vertigo is pretty good but Boots is profoundly bad.

Listened to Boots again today.  Just in case anyone was wondering, Larry takes the Bonham beat of "When the Levee Breaks" and adds a killer bass drum run underneath it. Check it out.

He actually doesn't take the Levee groove. the tab loses it's formatting when trying to paste here, but on Levee the 2nd and 4th kicks of the groove are on 1/16th notes, and on Larry's groove (I assume you meant the one at 2.30 ?) it sounds like it's on up beat 8th notes (but I could be wrong)

During the "Let me in the Sound" break its hard for me not to draw the comparison. The hihat-snare combo is nearly the same, but the bas drum of Larry is completely different.

Well, to some people Jackson Pollock's paintings look like a bunch of aimless squiggly lines, to others they are masterpieces. Yet they are looking at the same thing.

In other words, not similar to me. But they may be to you.

LOL! I'll accept that as an example.

It's sort of a combo of Elevation and Discotheque. Boots is a great song...not every song by U2 has to be a heart wrenching ballad...they can have some fun semi-throwaway numbers as well...they have a diverse catalog.

I actually like Boots, I think it will be a strong live track.

I think Walk On is their weakest single in recent years.

You are comparing Grammy Record of the Year versus Grammy fiasco performance.

Again, when it comes to hearing and ears - its to each his own.

Cheers,

Yes, I quite like Walk On.

As far as I can tell, every TV performance of Boots has been awful. With the same choreographed Bono - why he pulls the top of his shirt down during the 'I don't want to talk about wars between nations', I'll never know.

Maginficent is better though.

The worst song on NLOTH is still better than the best song on POP.
