Oh ok.

Yeah there's plenty.

The Refugee
Big Girls are Best
Elevation
Elvis Ate America
Yahweh
Paint it Black
Fortunate Son
Numb
With a Shout

just off the top of my head.

I actually really like Boots, so there are a lot worse U2 songs, IMO.  I generally agree with your list, Joe G, except for the two I've put a strike through.  See above. :)

I think Boots is better than those two, but I probably unfairly grouped them in with songs I think are a lot worse.  I do like both Elevation and Yahweh.

I think Boots is one of the standout tracks on an underwhelming album.  So, no.  Stand Up and White as Snow are far worse than Boots.

I'd say Crazy Tonight is worse than boots, but it's also nowhere near the worst song they've done.  I'd rather listen to boots than almost anything on October.

My seven-year old keeps jumping to it on the CD player, wherever else the album may be at that point. I'd say from highly anecdotal experience that Boots is a big hit in the 3-7 year old age ranges. The three-year old walks around saying "get on your boots hey hey hey hey...get on your boots hey hey hey hey" while playing air guitar.

On the lyrics front, after initial trepidations, I'll give them a pass on this -- assuming we think that we've never been freed of the dark dream...and that it's a description of that dark dream and the urgent desire to escape it. I think the delivery of those lyrics could have been more...original, as has been pointed out ad nauseum.

Not the worst song in my view.

I've always liked Boots; it's just a fun, upbeat rocker like Vertigo and Elevation.

Boots is a much better song than the second half of ATYCLB.

This is just another totally subjective Q & A.  I mean, it all boils down to personal likes/dislikes in the end.  Frankly, I dig Boots.  My wife who only listens to U2 because I make her, actually likes the song quite a bit.

I'll take the bait and suggest that these songs are all substantially weaker than Boots:

Shadows and Tall Trees
I Fall Down
Scarlet
Red Light
Elvis Presley and America
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Some Day's Are Better Than Others (er, perhaps for purposes of this thread should be retitled to "Some Songs Are Better Than Others)
Miami
If You Wear That Velvet Dress
Peace On Earth
Wild Honey
Angels To Tied To The Ground

Of course, it's all subjective.  And, it should be noted that "Fortunate Son" & "Paint it Black" are not U2 originals but covers of classic songs.  Thus, not sure they should be included in a "U2 worst song recorded" thread.

Completely aware.  But they did record them, regardless of who wrote them.

If we are including both U2 originals and covers recorded, than I agree that both "Fortunate Son" and "Paint It Black" are far worse than Boots.

Also, to add to my original list of songs much worse than Boots, let's not forget "Always" and "Summer Rain".  Now, I actually like "Summer Rain", but not nearly as much as I like Boots.  Come to think of it, I usually skip "Miracle Drug."

"Always" morphed into "Beautiful Day" and I am glad it did. Bad lyrics by Mr. B.

Agreed.  Not one of his better efforts, lyrically speaking.
