I remember buying the CD on the run up to see them at Celtic Park in 93....... and at the time I couldn't persuade anyone that this album was fantastic. I wore that CD down in the summer of 93!!!!  :)

Not sure of the point in my post, but just to say that this album is so fookin underated!!!

Definitely!

I think it has the best lyrics of any U2 album.

Zooropa and The Wanderer were awesome songs to open and close that album!

Zooropa is fantastic.  U2's overlooked masterpiece.  I'd love to see Lemon and Dirty Day show up on this tour.  Daddy's Gonna Pay would be nice too, but I won't hold my breath.  Stay would be equally as nice.

Just as long as they don't do Numb.  Love it on the album but it didn't appear to come off well live on the Sydney tape/DVD.

The band version of The Wanderer for the Johnny Cash special was also great, but I doubt they'll play it live.  I don't think Bono wants to sing it and only did so to honor Cash.  He was very adamant about his version not being included on the album after Cash sang the track.

Some Days Are Better Than Others aside, I think it's U2's best album lyrically. And most adventurous sonically. It's weird that it gets so overlooked.

I think Zooropa would have made an amazing EP, as it is though I find it terribly hit-and-miss. Zooropa, Numb, Lemon, Stay, The First Time are excellent, elsewhere the drop in quality is quite bad IMO. Though I do enjoy the live version of Dirty Day a lot.

Totally agree.  It's my favorite U2 album from the 90s and I think it's the smartest, most interesting album they've ever released.  There are so many ideas and facets in that album that it still blows me away, more than 15 years later.

This album usually ranks close to being my favorite of all time, had Hold Me Thrill Me, Wake Up Dead Man made it onto the album as planned, it would probably have a secure top spot.

Zooropa, Stay, the First Time, mixed with Daddy's Gonna Pay, Dirty Day, the album is a masterpiece, and i've said on this forum before, i didnt like the wanderer, but the live version is now on repeat often.

I SO AGREE!

Zooropa is honestly up there in my top five U2 albums, maybe even top four. I was a little "ehh" on Daddy's Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car. But that aside...

It's lyrically and musically genius.

Zooropa is an absolute gem of an album. I love the design, I love the experimental sounds, I love Bono's falsetto, I have come to love Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car, I freakin' love Numb. That album struts around my cd collection cuz it knows it's so freakin' cool.
