The Claw and visibility from on high
« on: March 26, 2009, 04:22:41 AM »
Can anybody shed some light on the claw.

The images presented of the claw show the video screen suspended from the roof of the stage. I think I read the stage is 164ft high. So for those people who have bought tickets in the upper tiers of the larger stadiums (e.d. Nou Camp & Gillette) what will these people see? Will they see the video screen? Are they looking down on the roof of the stage?

i did a quick google search on the height of solder field and giants stadium:

soldier field

Height (struct.)     46 m     151 ft

giants stadium

Building Dimensions: 756' L x 592' W x 144' H (Service Level to the top of seating bowl) 178' (Service Level to the top of the South Tower)

sounds like the stage setup will go above at least these two stadiums.

i don't think we'll understand and appreciate how big this thing is going to be until we see actual pictures.

I'm thinking the 164 ft probably includes the spire. If that's the case, it might only be around 90 feet tall (which is still really tall).

You can use the PopMart arch as another frame of reference.  It was 100ft tall.  So even if Jason's estimate that the lower canopy part stands at 90ft tall is accurate, that's nearly as high as the PopMart arch.

Man, no wonder they will need five days to set it up.

Good idea comparing the size to the Popmart arch.  This makes me believe almost certainly that the 164ft includes the spire.
