I have posted  the original video by Lake, and video interview w/Lake about the song:

I also agree w/Beth that with a very small lyrical tweak  (and a "holy smirk" in his eye) Bono has completely turned around the theology/worldview of the song:

yes, that is the best and official place to watch it.

When it was first on YouTube, the opening section was cut off.
Now the whole thing is up.

I have posted both versions..and Lake's versions...and commented on the lyric changes:

Pretty.  Didn't John Lennon do this song too?  I swear he did.

I do have to say though I wish it was an actual 'new' song.

Bono's really clever!

"They sold me a Merry Christmas, they sold me a Silent Night, they sold me a fairy story...but I believed in the Israelite..."

One single word and the meaning of the song is entirely changed. Brilliant!

I'm pretty positive he's wearing eyeliner.  It made me laugh a bit.  The song is ok for a Christmas song, I guess.

In response to the original posting: I had the same thing. The sound was horrible, and got worse during the song. I thought my sound card or speakers were broken. Luckily I have 2 pc's and it sounded great on the other one. Not just the U2 song, all of them. Something in those music files doesn't agree with some combination of windows/player/soundcard!

I have never in my life heard that song before, but it sounded great on my computer, and it was very beautiful. I agree, Larry was lovely on the drums. As for red wire, I did sign up, and when you get to that "coming soon", there is another place to click on. I don't remember what it looks like, but it says something like, "sign up for red wire now". It will bring you to a page to fill out your email and all that stuff. It won't ask you for any credit card information because the first two issues are free. You should get an email after you've signed up asking you to paste this entire link into your web browser, and when you do that, it will confirm that you've signed up. I hope that helps anyone who has run into problems.  Allison

Personally I think it's damn early to be celebrating Tzipi Livni's historic victory, but who am I to be questioning Bono's judgement?*

*joking. But seriously, if it's supposed to be a Jesus reference it falls slightly flat because there was no Israel when Jesus lived - he was technically a Palestinian.

There isn't much that rhymes with 'Palestinian', is there, TraKianLite?

Yeah...I had no idea who it referenced.  One truly has to stretch to make this connection.   8)
