Blockbuster Video - Concert Tickets?
« on: December 02, 2008, 07:36:33 AM »
Well I checked @U2 news and the rumors thread here before posting this.  Everyone here is so well informed and quick to report news, so I thought maybe I was late on this bit. I don't see it anywhere so I'll post it here now. This morning I heard that the Blockbuster Video Chain will be selling concert tickets for Live Nation. Now that caught my attention because of U2.  I think I heard it correctly but it was before my morning caffeine fix!  Oh and my source-WABC  New York local morning news right before Good Morning America aired. Did anyone else hear it?  If it is old or false news then go right ahead and lock this one up, m2 ;D!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure Dark Angel.  Didn't hear the details on the TV. Sorry.

Here is a link to the news article.  It just mentions 500 Blockbuster stores and says they will have blocks of tickets to sell 4 hours before the general public.

Thanks bonogrl! The link does work. Apparently, it is the Wall Street Journal but after 2 or 3 sentences, it says you have to subscribe to read the rest.  I should just grab a copy later.  Hot Press does that too. That drives me crazy.  Or maybe just google Blockbuster or something. I'm sure others will add info. to this.

The second link works, thanks!! It still doesn't say exactly where all the stores are but I'm sure we can find out.  Interesting.

Oh, I'm really sorry!  :-[  The second link I posted is better, try that one.  It's not too detailed, but it sounds like it might only be in the US.

Its ok its not your fault!  ;)

I'm too scared to try the second but I trust what you say about it only being in the US!

I'm not too sure how I feel about this new deal.  I mean, it might be cool if it were going to be at all Blockbuster stores, but I'm wondering how it will work for U2 tickets.  If people can get tickets 4 hours before anybody else, what do you do if you don't live near a Blockbuster, espescially if you don't live near one of these 500 stores?  I will have to try to find a blockbuster near me.  The two that were closest are no longer around.  I guess my point is I don't see how it is fair for people to get tickets early just because they are lucky enough to have a Blockbuster near them.  I usually buy my tickets on-line anyway, but I may have to stand in line for U2 tickets if I can get them 4 hours before anybody else.  Although last time I stood in line for U2 tickets, the computers crashed at the store and I was unable to get any (luckily I had already bought tickets through the pre-sale!)

Are U2 going with Live Nation for ticketing this tour or are they staying with TicketMaster?  If it's still TM, then this is a moot point as far as our guys are concerned.

I think it is Live Nation Joe, if I am not mistaken. If not, you are right.

If this is true--it seriously does not make sense.  Blockbuster stores do not have the capacity to handle this sort of situation.  Just my opinion though. Nonsense.
