Anti-Clutter Suggestion
« on: April 17, 2009, 09:39:27 PM »
As you have said, theres been a lot of threads made that clutter the forum, and are not needed.

Maybe you could delete the thread if you see it is not needed or lock it

Also, to help stop all the cluttering, the mods could delete the old threads, like the ones on the last couple pages of a section, because they wont be posted in again (most of them are from october-January last post)

That also would help stop the reviving of old threads

I really don't think you want us to do that. Won't be much left in certain sections of the forum, and many people will see their post counts drop precipitously. :-)

Do you think we have the time & desire to do that? :)

Seriously, Shock, we appreciate your ideas and concerns, but ultimately, the forum users are the ones who decide how much clutter there is. I think it would be great if every user stopped for a second, right before starting a new thread, and said "Is this really needed? Is this going to create value or clutter?" I think that would help a lot.

And by the way, I don't think the clutter problem is all that bad. Certain boards are really great - lots of high quality, informative, helpful, interesting discussions. Other boards -- mainly Real World, in my opinion -- are a mess and filled with clutter. But that's just my opinion. Obviously some stuff that I consider clutter is what others consider fun, and that's cool.

I knew the Real World boards were like my brain, now I understand how.
