I personally think Moment of Surrender was over-hyped...I mean, "one of the best things U2 has ever done"
That's a bit much...

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I dub it over-Rated and over-Hyped.

Overrated to some, underrated to others, just right to many. That's the wonderful thing about opinions.

And I dub you Sir Sonofjick, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing more or less that anyone else on any other Internet message board opinionates.

Hmmm.  I've read your final sentance a few times.  Stared at it for about 30 seconds.  And for the life of me, I have no idea what you are trying to say.

The result of this poll sums it up nicely. Twice as many votes for MOS, and I'm not surprised in the least. Sometimes is a rather average song for me. MOS is one small step away from being as good as U2's top-tier songs such as Bad, Streets, One, etc.  And with time (and live renderings), it may still get there.

I love the middle part of MOS - the body is a begging bowl section.  I particularly love the middle-eastern-tinged vocal on the word "yearns."  But looking at the songs as a whole, I have to go with Sometimes.

No problem.  Happy to do it.  Why did I do it?  When you started thanking someone for agreeing with you.

Oh, and MOS is kicking the pants off of Sometimes in this thread. Just an FYI.

Not really.

The only valid point is that people prefer it to Sometimes.

Don't blame them either.

I wouldn't rank MOS as great by any means, but it's miles better than Sometimes.

So, unless you are saying "overrated compared to Sometimes" it's not a valid conclusion to say MOS is overrated based on these results.

This whole thing is pretty simple to follow.

I compliment Jick on a negative post of MOS in which I agreed with.  I am referred to as his minie-me.  I explain why I feel the song is over-rated and after thanking someone for acurately stating it is over-hyped (probably the more appropriate phrase) I am referred to as sonofJick.  You do the math.

Why are you telling me this ? It had nothing to do with what I wrote. You drew the conclusion MOS was overrated from these results, I pointed out where you couldn't come to that conclusion, you went on a Jick-related rant. There was no Math involved. Fuzzy Logic maybe.

You pretty much nailed it on the head.  And, contrary to what you said earlier, you seemed to understand it fully. Jick and you exhibit the same tendency of saying things your opinion is "accurate". Just accept it and know your role.

This is just a sampling of over 60 forum members.  It is statistically insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

In a given concert, there are already 50,000 people.

In first week sales in the USA, 840,000 snagged HTDAAB while only 480,000 snagged NLOTH.  That's almost 400,000 people who are unaccounted for.

The results of this poll would be an accurate reflection of the sentiments of the active members in this forum.  But it is by no means representative of what's happening in the real world.

Cheers,

J
