I think the intro of the good, but not great song Unknown Caller would have been better with a bit of tweaking. How many of you like it as it is? How many of you agree?

I have another thread where many people have said that the intro is necessary and creates an atmosphere to the song.

I can live with the intro. I would rather "tweak" another part of that song.

I think the intro is fine on Unknown Caller.

I think the intros on Magnificent (45s before song really starts) and Moment of Surrender (1 min 15s before Bono starts singing) are too long.

Yes. It's quite a fast, up tempo song. The opening is just soft guitars not doing very much. It should have gone straight into the main part of the song.

Im ok with the intro, but the second chant goes on too long, there should be a verse in there

Okay... so seems like most people are cool with the intro  :).
In my opinion, I agree with adam1, would have been nicer to get straight into it. But the fact that peoples' opinions vary on this shows that U2 succeeded, they wanted more thought provoking music than on "Bomb", and they did it. 8)

I think the intro is the best part of the song.  It's the chorus that bums me out, and the general lack of melody in the song.  By the time the main riff hits after the intro, I'm expecting the song to really take me somewhere, but it doesn't go much further than that riff, ultimately bogging down in the chant.  Still one of the better songs on the album, though, IMO.  I don't start wanting to pull my hair out until "Crazy Tonight" comes on.  That's when I know the album and I are not on the same wavelength.
