Elevation Third Leg
« on: May 30, 2009, 10:38:33 PM »
Hey all, a quick question:

I'm kinda new to the whole downloading bootlegs thing and am just after a small piece of advice - I'd really like to get a boot of a third-leg Elevation tour show and I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to which show to track down? I know that the third leg of Elevation was pretty special, being post 9-11 and all, and if there was a stand out show or a few stand out shows that anyone would recommend? I figure NY would be the obvious, but any specific shows in NY or otherwise?

Please note: I am not asking for links or for the bootleg itself, just a recommendation for show(s).

Thanks guys  :)

Well. Go for any of the shows from Nov. 20th or later. Reason why? They added these shows about 2 weeks before they happened! They weren't even added with enough time to go on the shirts! Pick up the Dallas show from the 3rd leg, I'm biased, but it was great! Plus, on one version you can hear me yeall "f*** the revolution" before Please  ;D. Also has In God's Country and a kick-ass BTBS

I thought the last night in Los Angeles was pretty special on that leg of the tour.  It was added at the last minute.  And it goes without saying....anything from the NYC shows will probably be special....given that they played there just two months after that fated day in September.

First place to start is the first show from Notre Dame 10 Oct as it was broadcast on the web, and has the best sound quality of any Elevation show.
There is also an excellent soundboard out there of the New York show on the 25th October.
Other notable mentions:
Providence Oct 31st
Some nice rarities on that one (Party Girl, Slow Dancing, Wild Honey, Please)
Nov 23rd Arizona
The shows in the desert are always special, plus includes In Gods Conutry !!!
Oct 24th New York and Nov 9th Utah
Are available as two of the best quality audience recordings of the leg

Hope this helps

Try having a look at the phenomenal website by a U2 fan in the States, he lists every show complete with all the different versions out there.

Head for Kansas 27th Nov - for the one and only When I Look At The World.

Otherwise, the Dallas show two days before is a good shout.

Hey all, thanks very much for the responses. I've downloaded the second NY show. As I only intend to grab a couple of shows from each tour, I'm being pretty picky and mostly going for soundboard or broadcast shows, although i'll definitely check out the providence show for the rarities and as a big fan of when I look at the world, I'll also take a peek at the Kansas show.

Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it!

What was that point out of interest? That U2 totally skipped Aust/NZ (as well as most of the world) on the Elevation tour? I'm from Sydney, so am very aware of that fact - hopefully it doesn't happen on 360. Us down under fans are loyal and deserve more than a concert every nine or ten years. Here's to hoping that in 2010 we'll get the new and improved 360 tour with bonus songs courtesy of Songs of Ascent!
