How does the new album's title stack up?
« on: December 19, 2008, 09:25:10 AM »
Well? Are we feeling the new album title, No Line on the Horizon, or not? How do you think it compares with the last two? Does it sound catchier, more meaningful, like it will be any fun at all??? Or is it cheesy, pretentious, unexciting?

For me: I am undecided. (I sort of expected "Mercy" to be the title of it.)

I kinda like ATYCLB better, but that's just today.

Thoughts?

I'm not a fan of long album titles especially because it means we'll just see it as NLOTH here which I personally can't stand.   :o

I would have preferred just "Horizon" myself.

I seem to remember u2.com doing a competition based on the letters from the acronym of one of the last 2 albums (can't recall which).  They told us the letters and they had a competition to see who could come up with either the actual title or the best one.  On of the runners up had stewardesses or flight attendants in the title, as I recall.

I think it's an interesting title, and interesting imagery.  I have never minded the longer titles.

Not sure, image doesn't really work for me. Describing something that's not there immediately puts the image there in your mind, namely a line on the horizon.  :-\

Maybe if we suddenly start calling the new album "horizon" instead of 'NLOTH' then we can start a new trend and take back the internet from those stupid acronyms...If one might feel so inclined to do.

To me it sounds dark and bleak, which I think makes a very good album title.

I like the title quite a bit. It's interesting and has some mystery to it.

i love the title actually. Truth is though Im more a fan of out there and weird titles.

Best ones from recent memory: In Rainbows, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friend / Prospekts March, A hundred Million Suns. No Line On The Horizon has mystery to it, and to be honest looks weird along all the other album names. It defiantly belongs though, it has that element of weirdness I like, as well as that U2 feel.

I really won't be able to tell until I hear the album. Some of the titles I would have disliked on their own really fit with the albums--particularly ATYCLB and my beloved Achtung Baby.  :)

I'm up for using Horizon - it bugs me with all the NLOTH stuff (whoops did I just do that!!)

I love the album title...I don't mind it's length at all

The abbreviation NOLTH is just for lazy people... :D...I don't mind typing out "No Line on the Horizon"
