Does the stage really rotate?
« on: June 17, 2009, 07:03:13 PM »
I think what rotates is the "lower outer ring" of the main stage where the catwalks are attached - no?  Yes I see that the catwalks are in different spots in separate photos but the drum kit is always facing forward......so in other words Bono could take the edge of the stage for a ride but the whole thing may not actually rotate.....they have to accommodate all the gear underneath so it seems impossible that the whole oval stage will rotate - too bad for me I'm over Larry's left shoulder.

thoughts on this?

I agree with you. In all the pictures I've seen the main set is always in the same direction, and the ramp leading from the back is attached. The lower portion may rotate, the stairs on rollers and will surely move.
The thing that I ponder is that the entire stage has a sub-structure that is housing a ring of sub woofers that have to be attached to power and have cables going in and out. The whole thing can't rotate, or it would be a rat's nest mess down there by the end of the show.
I don't know what it is going to do.
We'll find out in 13 days I guess.

The stage rotates; there is a person on the u2eastlink forum who has videos/images of the stage rotating.

Then again, I have yet to see this images so I'm still a bit suspiscious on this one.

Actually the stage is stationery.

But the stadium rotates so the effect is similar.

The Stage DOES NOT rotate, only the catwalk bridges,

The great surprise however is that the rounded screen opens itself into a large amount of "pieces", you can check this in some videos on youtube, comparing the screen between them:
