i HATE...H-A-T-E...when he stands up during the 'let me in teh sound' part...

-dan

It is really contrived and dorky.  But so is the entire song.

I expect Boots to be in the first three songs of the set list - every night.

I hate Boots.  If they have to play this I wish to God they'd skip Elevation.

Of Boots, Elevation, and Vertigo, only Vertigo does not suck.

Hmm - I like them all.  Elevation best, then Vertigo, then Boots.  But then I also don't get why Wild Honey is so universally hated.  I don't think there's anything wrong with having some humor in a U2 song . . .

I would not be sad to see elevation go - it became tired sounding even during the last tour> perfect for the Elevation tour - but beyond that, no to much ( IMO )

do all U2 fans over think their rock & roll music, or just some of them? ;D

Its got a good beat and you can dance to it. I say let them play the heck out of it.

I agree. Why don't we let such great musicians and entertainers have fun with their music every now and then? We expect everything to be super-heavy-on-the-emotions, which they can do quite well. But why can't we let them let loose and have a fun tune that we can dance to and enjoy the heck out of?

Yes indeed. Have you heard Zooropa or Pop? Both purposely are very danceable albums. Larry and Adam can get very funky when they need too.

Once upon a time (goes the legend) U2 fans were supposed to be more discerning, challenging, and rigorous.  No, we weren't (generally) into hair metal, Madonna, or Phil Collins, all of whom produced danceable pap featuring a good beat.  But then we were also considered, not unlike the band themselves, uber serious sad-sack killjoys.  So the band made their way to "Boots," I'm just not coming along on this ride.

How awesome would it be if every time you opened this threat, you heard the GOYB riff playing over and over and over? It would just make this whole topic more polarizing than it already is! Get On Your Boots: Those who love it, love it. Those who don't.... Should lighten up a little!!

Yeah hey heyyyy!   ;D

I think Boots will be great live.  Even if you don't like the song much, I think it will be hard not to really get into it.

It reminds me of Vertigo and how sick of it I was by the time the tour rolled around.  I would always skip right over it when listening to HTDAAB.  I wasn't looking forward to it being played live, but once you're there in the moment everything changes.

Vertigo rocks live, and I'm sure Boots will also.

Yeah, pretty much. Being there in the moment can change your mind about a lot of songs.

Almost certainly will be song number 2.
Typical U2 shows have some longer, drawn out opening like Zoo Station, Zooropa, Pop Music, City, Streets (?)..... and then kick into their pacey launch single - The Fly, Beautiful Day, Vertigo. They've kicked off shows with Vertigo but this is rarer, they prefer to have a start that builds then WHAM!

I don't mind Boots, it's grown on me. Play it this tour then drop it forever boys :)

Like others have said, Boots will be one of the centerpieces to kick off the show in high gear . . . and by now it'll be as brilliant (or more so) live as it is on the album. It's the kind of song that U2 is all about.
