I would think it was the political song for this tour like LAPOE was for Vertigo.

Maybe we need a petition for this song?  Personally I think this is better than Crazy. I hope they play it sometime during the tour-- maybe by the time I get to see them in 2010.

It doesn't really do much for me :/

Plus, they're playing Ultraviolet so I'm happy :P  :)

I regretfully admit that I agree whole-heartedly with this comment  :D ;)

It also helps when you play 3 different versions of Ultraviolet from Zoo TV all day  ;D

Sometimes I feel like I don't know, sometimes I feel like checking out...

If we're not careful Nielsen, this will become more about Ultraviolet than Stand Up Comedy :)

At times, I wish irony wouldn't hit me. And even more ironic is that Ultraviolet comes from an ironic album.

Irony overload!

Well the song is not up to U2's live standards.  It will be something like Crumbs From You Table, or Kite, which U2 may learn eventually during the tour and attempt to play live.

They did a good job with Kite though.

Cheers,

J

Can you elaborate on "not up to U2'slive standards"?  Kite was played live and it seemed to hold up just fine.  Also, Standup has a certain energy to it that no other song on NLOTH has.

It's a song that will slot better into an American setlist than a European one in my opinion.

I agree, it seems like this album's "Crumbs". I can't imagine them not attempting it, maybe on the 2nd or 3rd leg of the tour. It may or may not stay in the setlist, though.

I think they'll attempt it 2nd or 3rd leg....definitely a song made to play live...although I have to say I never got into it much at all...

The more I think about it, the more it seems like Stand Up should be the opener. Stand Up! It's a call to action, and it rocks.

Dear U2,

Please consider this.

Thanks.

Josh

It will make an appearance. It is a "Live Song" if there ever was one.

I agree!!!  I hope I hear it in NYC.

Totally! It's a much better jumpy lifting song than elevation or vertigo!
I would put it right up the top of the list.
But then again I'm not B, E, A or L!
