I have never been a huge fan of the song "Playboy Mansion", but I did always like that line about "HIStory", always thought it was pretty clever by Mr. Bono.
I was in 2nd grade when Thriller hit.  I will never forget how the world literally went MJ crazy!! Everyone was trying to do the Moonwalk.  It feels weird living in a world without Michael Jackson...

In the early 80s I lived in the East block, but my dad worked in Italy for a few years. I asked him to get me a leather jacket with zippers. When he sent it to me I felt like the coolest girl in school. You couldn't get that kind of stuff at home. I had a cool jacket with zippers! Not red, but still.  ;D

Terrasidious, it has nothing to do with U2, it's just a chat.  ;)

I have so many memories connected with MJ. Billie Jean was a remarkable music video at the time and is still exciting to watch.  He was an amazing influence to music for several decades - just like U2 - I think that is the connection with this thread.

RIP Michael Jackson.

On the U2 Dublin ZOO TV show from August 1993, isn't Bono referring to Michael Jackson when he says "You're not so bad" before Bad?

Also, for the ZOO TV Sydney video, during MacPhisto's speech, wasn't he going to say something about Michael Jackson but just cut it short at "Goodbye Michael"?

In Dublin 1993 right before Bad, Bono said "to Michael Jackson, I don't believe you're bad, guilty before you've been given a chance Michael."

Cheers,

Cool. Thanks.   :)

I think the goodbye Michael was for Michael Hutchence

Couldn't of been a goodbye to Michael Hutchence. Michael Hutchence didn't pass away 'til 4 years after Live From Sydney.

U2 performed a tribute to MJ tonight, as we all may have expected:
