I am very stumped on what U2 song is appropriate for Christmas - City of Blinding Lights? One? When I Look At World? Or maybe something else.....

yes i agree thats got my vote to. Though they once did a acoustic version of Happy Xmas ( war is over ) by John Lennon on the Late Late show on RTE that runs it a close second .

I get the sense that Nielsen is asking for what U2 song is most appropriate for the holiday that isn't an actual Christmas song, which would disqualify "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", as well.  That being the case, I'll submit "Scarlet".

Really?? How did you get that impression? He didn't mention that it wasn't meant to be an actual Christmas song... :) In fact, he did say apart from the RED(WIRE) song. Which is a Christmas song. Which to me, would qualify Baby Please Come Home. No?

Note the songs he referenced:"City of Blinding Lights", "One", "When I Look at the World"...none of them remotely Christmas related.  It's not rocket science...

OK Let me make it clear: I want to know which songs are appropriate for Christmas but not so obvious. So yes, not Christmas songs but U2 songs that seem to be within the spirit of Christmas (and also I don't really know if U2 sung any Christmas songs apart from RED(WIRE)).

So When I Look At the World has the Christmas jingle to it (well for me anyway) but is no-where near related to Christmas.

I know these may sound strange...but I'd say "Red Hill Mining Town" and "The First Time",

Window in the Skies is good for Christmas and Easter.  How about Peace on Earth?

Dare I suggest the "dreaded" Grace? How about "40"? I like Yahweh and Scarlet as well.

If you imagine Sandy Clause instead of Santa Clause, you could go with Big Girls Are Best.   ;D

"If God Will Send His Angels" and "Peace on Earth" are both good.  (It helps that they both have lyrical references to Christmas!)
