150 bpm's awfully fast for a dance track .

Maybe U2 are going for the Hardcore House sound for this record... I really hope that was Bono exaggerating the speed of the track!! :o

Brilliaaaaaant. That's so good to hear. I was waiting for a concrete description that was something other than U2 hyperbole. Long is good!!

Re: 150bpm        That got me wondering too. And what else but a dance track eh? I'm thinking something along the lines of the Killers 'Human' (but faster), I could see that. Jaysus I'm getting more and more excited everyday...the parallels with Pop and Achtung Baby are getting my blood pumping...

but I don't really like Bono explicitly stating ""We're going after the younger audience this time too" What the heck is THAT supposed to mean?! urgh, there were similar quotes circa HTDAAB release right? Hopefully it doesn't amount to anything and isn't a forewarning of them using clappers and/or more/other hip hop influences. I think they've got to stop trying so hard to appeal to younger people. I'm 20 and consider it a miracle when I meet someone my age that has heard of, let alone likes or loves, U2. The young people that like U2 have the musical tastes of 40 yr olds anyway..if it happens it happens. But I hope they're not being real try-hards.

Anyone else feel the same

I Do. The eyeliner makes me worry..........

The 'U2 Album News' on this site has mentioned 25 song titles. If the song average is 5 minutes, thats 125 minutes. I doubt it will that long or have that many songs. But if the vinyl version of the album requires two discs, it may fill a single CD and be 80 minutes/16 songs.

Bono often cranks things up prior to a release, but I've never heard him call a forthcoming album 'long' before.

150 bpm's awfully fast for a dance track . Most house/techno/EBM features tempos of 118-132 bpm. Standard old-school disco is pretty much all 120 bpm.

#@!
maybe it's punk! ;D
anyways, I'm glad that it will be a longer album.

You have no idea how much I want you to be right!

Bono says it's a long album? The longer the better!!!!

As to U2 going after "younger listeners," as Bono sez, all I can say is that I first heard "With or Without You" at age 17 in 1987, and I've been a U2 listener ever since. How many others were in their teens, back in the early 80s, when they first heard "I Will Follow" or "Gloria" or "Sunday Bloody Sunday"? Tell me, again, what's wrong with courting "younger listeners"?

Younger back then was something they were, not something they were trying to market.

You have a good thought there, and you are probably right, I just think there is more of a time gap now than then...

If that's long then i'm happy, two songs over 6 minutes helps.

Maybe a 13-14 song album, I like long awesome albums.  ;)

I agree.  My kids listen to many different forms of music-- I daresay they have been taught well to appreciate music.  However, the only way they would go to a U2 concert is thru bribery of a very expensive trip that involved sand, sun and palm trees- and Pearl Jam.
