I think U2 have always been trying to market to young listeners.

You have a good thought there, and you are probably right, I just think there is more of a time gap now than then...

Do you think they are aiming for 4 year olds now?

I believe they did my age with HTDAAB!

Not sure quite what you mean, but no, I don't think U2 are marketing to 4 year olds.

Why doesn't anyone want to market to me?  People my age (40) have money to spend, and yet, no one wants our share of the market.  Market to me, darn U2!   :D

I don't think U2 is aiming exclusively towards young people... I just think they're just trying to expose young people to some 'real' music

I'm sure all the older U2 fans will be able to enjoy it as well...as long as it's a great album

If the album is anything like Achtung Baby or Pop then there will definitely be some hip hop over tones rhythm-wise.

I agree.  My kids listen to many different forms of music-- I daresay they have been taught well to appreciate music.  However, the only way they would go to a U2 concert is thru bribery of a very expensive trip that involved sand, sun and palm trees- and Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam?  They're no spring chickens, either.

I'm 20 and consider it a miracle when I meet someone my age that has heard of, let alone likes or loves, U2.

I find it hard to believe that 20 year olds haven't heard of U2.  Are you telling me they don't remember seeing the Vertigo iTunes commercial at the tender age of 16?

I remember when I was 20 (back in 1989).  A lot of 18-22 year olds back then appreciated the Rolling Stones and wanted to see them on tour.  I'd like to think the same would hold true for U2 in 2009.

Boom Cha!

Feels like forever ago....

I rememver it well too!

Except that was before I became a fan of U2. I was annoyed to tears seeing that commercial and hearing that song. Shame on me!
