I don't think so.  Honestly, if he were going to have some work done, don't you think he would have filled it in just a little bit more?!?

his has definitely had something done to the left hand side of his hair

The problem is that you don't know if that's something artificial, something that was done in the makeup chair which he sat in for 30 minutes prior to the formal shoot, or something done in the studio by the photography editor to make him look "better." (Sorta like actresses and celebs are enhanced, balanced out and smoothed over by Photoshop.)

Look at this video, specifically at 3:30-4:00. Aside from what appears to be a bald-spot, this performance is flawless! Although, what I just stated thereof wouldn't impede the performance anyways... Just look at the Edge, he's bald and can still rock out.

He doesn't need to have anything done - he just looks better and better with age, whether or not he's thinning/balding, going grey, getting wrinkles or moobs! ;D  Someone said he's like a fine wine and I agree with them.  He gets better and better. :o

I am not sure what, if anything Bono has had done to his hair or anything else but the first thing I think about when someone accuses Bono of having some kind of surgery is "when?"-- virtually every day he is photographed, leaving absolutely no time for a recovery period and I have never seen him photographed with surgical bandages. The only other option is that he might indeed be an immortal being being and heal spontaneously.

*cough*hair plugs*cough*

Even better than the real thing!   :D

...all the better to work up to AB/Elevation hair!   ;D
While POP & NLOTH hair is not my fave Bono look, I generally disagree about longer hair on older men, esp if its thinning or receded.
Short is better.
