3 Things
« on: August 04, 2009, 03:57:21 PM »
Hi New here on the forum

3 things as I am going to see U2 for the 10th time at Wembley on the 14th;

1. It has to be the venue for a DVD shoot
2. They have to play Drowning Man - I have read that they are having difficulty with Drowning Man about how to come back after that song. I would be interested in seguing it with one earlier/middle of -  in the set list. What are your thoughts in placing Drowning Man?
3. Wembley as a venue is awesome, saw U2 at Twickenham last time and the sound was dodgy. Wembley sound system will  make the experience one for the books.

Best wishes to all

Welcome, EoF!  I hope you have a super time at Wembley and that the band plays Drowning Man.   :)

I hope you're right about Drowning Man - I don't see them until Tampa in mid-October, so there's still plenty of time for them to work it into the set list.

I was thinking about Willie's comment:  why don't they segue from Drowning Man into One?  They fit together thematically and would make for an emotionally-uplifting combination.  Sandwich these between a series of uptempo songs and you've got a good set list there in my opinion.

Welcome to the fun, EoF!

I hope your three wishes come true.

I think the issue with playing Drowning Man isn't whether the audience can recover, but whether the band can.

They should close the show with Drowning Man then, like they did in Vertigo sometimes with "40".

M2 covered the Drowning Man situation in the most current Off The Record (OTR) column located here:

There will be more news on it in the next OTR column as well.

Thanks for all your comments - I am 200% sure Wembley will be fantastic

As for the band recovering after performing drowning man  - I think seguing into One would help them do that. Not that I would have though of it before it was mentioned.  Is it getting better - or do you feel the same.....

Best wishes for all your concerts!!
