The first time they played SNL, U2 really broke down the barrier between band and audience with Bono running around through the crowd.  In 2005 they played 3 songs (even a 4th after the broadcast ended) instead of the typical 2 songs for musical guests.

so, my question is: what will they do differently this time?  open the show?  play two songs during the first performance?  something else?

I think they'd play bookeneds and do a skit or two.  Think of their skit on Letterman with the voicemail!  LOL  Or on Conan.... Hilarious!  I forget what they did on SNL last time as far as skits... Anyone?

I dont think they had a part in any skits, but I could be wrong. I think that was the episode where Will Ferrell returned as guest host.

I'm pretty sure the 2 SNL hosts for U2 shows were Val Kilmer and Luke Wilson

It'd be cool if they were involved in a sketch.

U2 always does something different for SNL.  It really wouldn't surprise me if Megan Fox does her opening bit, says, "and tonight's musical guest is U2!" and instead of saying, "stick around we'll be right back" they actually launch into Crazy Tonight with Megan on tamborine.

If they played a song from Achtung Baby not named Mysterious Ways, One, UTEOTW, or WGRYWH
If they played 2 songs from NLOTH not named Boots, Crazy Tonight, NLOTH, or Magnificent
